Not all of the chapters in this books pertained to the questions I had, but the ones that did covered those topics specifically and intelligently. I found it easy to skim to the parts of the book I needed. This book also provided many ideas about what resources to pick up next.
Lots of useful information, but a little overwhelming. Also didn't feel like it was for my age bracket. More geared towards parents and adults who already have a full-time job looking to switch. Still, a very useful read.
I should know better than to pick a book with "How to..." in the title. This information may be a revelation for someone utterly new to editing and setting up a home-based business (for example, farm hands or mall greeters), but I found it all to be entry-level entrepreneur in the extreme.
Solid overview of the basics, with a focus on American editors. Helped address a lot of my questions about contracts, taxes, and other business issues specific to a freelancing business.
I can't stress how fantastic and useful this book was. I'm so grateful for the existence of this guidebook and I learned so much from it that I'll be applying to my own practices.
Extremely helpful and easy to read. I learned a lot and how far I have yet to go, but I feel like I have the tools to get there and a better idea of what I want to do as an editor. Very handy, definitely buying it.
