Otelo se trata sobre un moro mercante veneciano que es enviado a Cipre porque los turcos otomanos van a atacar el lugar.
Lo que más me gustó fue la personalidad de cada personaje y como cada uno era autónomo y tenía sus propias ideas y motivaciones sin ser abruptamente manipulados por el autor. Es una obra obviamente trágica en la cual Desdemona, la esposa de Otelo, es asesinada por este después de haber sido convencido por su alférez, Yago, que le es infiel con su teniente, Casio. Shakespeare tomó este relato de un autor italiano y lo reescribió alterando el desenlace para que pueda ser traducido a una obra teatral. Mi parte favorita fue poder leer sobre las manipulaciones e hipocresías astutas de Yago y como es que pudo detalladamente engañar al moro de buen corazón. Mi personaje favorito fue Emilia, la esposa de Yago, porque fue fiel a Desdemona desde el inicio hasta el final, aunque tuviera que delatar a su esposo cuando se enteró del engaño. Ella murió porque su esposo la hirió cuando lo descubrieron, y cantó la lullaby de Desdemona junto a Otelo antes de morir. Lo más especial y remarcable de este libro es que es una de las primeras obras en toda la historia de la literatura que contiene un protagonista de color. Además, en el tercer acto, Emilia hace un monólogo indicando cómo no es justo que las mujeres tengan que estar siempre mudas y sumisas etc., lo cual me pareció revolucionario para el siglo XVII.
Lo único que no me gusto es que el lenguaje es demasiado hiperbólico y a veces tenía que leerlo varias veces (lo cual is on me porque no estoy acostumbrada). Pero de todas maneras si añadiría que me hubiera gustado más inteligencia por parte del moro porque nadie se dejaría engañar sin pruebas si amaba tanto a Desdemona.
Overall, entretenida pero trágica corta obra. Lo recomiendo si nunca han leído Shakespeare 4.3/5 ⭐️

i thought i would enjoy this more because it involved an interracial relationship, which was rare considering the time period but god this was infuriating

everyone sucked.

kinda wished desdemonda did cheat bc othello was ...

emilia tho she was a ride or die and a girlboss like yess you SHOULD cheat on your man. i completely understand why - he's a whiny hater
