Desolation Boulevard chronicles the lives of Matt and Sally after an overnight event turns most of the world's population into violent, night-dwelling monsters called "feeders". As the survivors huddle together in this frightening new world, the feeders become stronger and rule the night, threatening the very existence of humanity. As Matt and Sally wage their personal battles in this brutal, ruthless landscape, they meet others who vow to fight and reclaim the world from the evil feeders. When a girl is discovered who may have powers to resist the creatures, the survivors know that they must protect her at all costs. Desolation Boulevard is an action-packed thrill-ride in a bleak, disturbing future where humans are number two in the food chain. Don't start reading this book if you want a good night's sleep!
Shades of Stephen King's "The Stand" and the movie version of "I Am Legend" blend together in this unique zombie tale that's well written and held my interest despite its length.
Everything seems to be "just good" with this novel...but it somehow makes difference with its pace, tension and vividness of moments and faces. Much like the little main heroine of the novel - it turns into something special and carries you through to the last page. Read in one go in 3 days.
Really enjoyed this, a twist on the usual zombie suspects with a side of UFO thrown in. The characters are easy to like and the story line sucks you in. There were a few minor typos that distract a tiny bit, but over all this was a good read. I liked it enough to purchase the second in the series and will most likely buy the third.
I thought this book was very well written and that the story was excellent. The heroes were interesting and believable, and as the story progresses what will happen next is not obvious. I will look out for other books by this author.
