Ten tasty cookie recipes for a couple of dollars, less than the price of buying a small bag full from a store - what a bargain! OK, you have to do the work and the washing up but nonetheless…
Buddy Valastro, possibly better known as a star of the American television series "Cake Boss" provides 10 easy-to-make recipes in this small ebook. The recipes are for Tarelles (vanilla cookies), Icebox Christmas Cookies, Rugelach, Linzer Tart Cookies, Classic Biscotti, Modern Biscotti, Pignoli Cookies, Peanut Butter Cookies, Chocolate-Chip Cookies and Chocolate Brownie Clusters.
Despite this deceptively-small book's appearance, you get a lot of great hints, tips and "personal tuition" from the "Cake Boss" just as if he was standing behind you, ready to display a bit of his Italian-American humour or temper, whilst you are having a go and making cookies. The recipes feature a very detailed set of instructions so short of burning the cookies or doing something really stupid you cannot fail here!
About the only niggles are the measures are only in imperial units, there is no estimation of preparation and cooking times and the book could have had more photographs of the finished articles as the photographs that were present were engaging and useful.
A great little collection for those who just want a few quick, easy and great recipes rather than a whole book. A bite-sized trial, if you will.

The first recipe that I tried from this cook book was of course the chocolate chip cookies, and it was very easy for Emmy and I to whip up a 1/2 batch of cookies the we all really enjoyed. I think over the next few months I will be making some more of these recipes they all look so delicious. My biggest problem with the book is that there are only 10 recipes, I would have liked to see more. But since I can't let my self have to many cookies in the house, my self control is not that great I will admit. I think over the next 9 months I will enjoy making a batch a month of these cookies. I look forward to trying the biscotti ones, I have heard of them but never tried them so this will give me the excuse to try them out.
