If you like stories by Maurice Sendak, Jon Klassen, Dr Seuss and P D Eastman then you will love this beautiful tale told by Lily Lexington in her second dinosaur story.
Follow the adventures of two brothers and their pet dinosaur friends in their quest to win the great dinosaur race. Join them as they race through forests, tracks, over flips and more. Each brother believes they have the best dinosaur, who will win?
The story ends with a great lesson about teamwork and being able to get along that all parents will love.
- Beautiful illustrations with many amusing scenes. - Rhyming lines help engage your child and sustain interest. - Your child will be enthralled and love to read this story over and over.
I got this book for free on my Kindle a few weeks back but hadn't gotten around to reading it. I was just settling down to a good book when my 2-year-old woke up from a nightmare crying and shaking like a leaf. Since I already had my kindle out, decided to go with this instead of searching through a dark house risking waking up kids to find a picture book.
This was a good kid's book. The illustrations are nicely done and detailed even in B&W on my old-fashioned Kindle (LOL). I think they're in color if you have a new e-reader. The rhyming was simple enough for my almost 3-year-old to follow along, but also introduced her a few new words. The story was engaging and kept her attention the whole time. It also has a nice little lesson as the moral of the story. It did just the trick for my little one, helping her to calm down without putting her to sleep (cuz I wanted her to go back to her own bed). I'd definitely recommend it to others, especially if you have a dinosaur loving child!
The Great Dinosaur Race by Lily Lexington is the second book I have read by her. I ordered this ebook on Amazon.com for $1.99. This is an affordable download for everyone. This ebook is done with simple, cute and colorful illustrations. The Great Dinosaur Race is about “two brothers who loved to compete, losing was sour and victory was sweet.” Each of the brothers had a dinosaur and felt they needed to compete in a race to decide who the best one is. “On your marks, get set, go! The race had begun, each brother set off at the crack of the gun.” When all of a sudden during the middle of the race they fall into a hole and cannot get out. Are the brothers able to realize that only friendly competition is good? Are they able to work together in the face of adversity? And will they make it out of the whole before they get too hungry? This rhyming picture book is a very quick and easy read for young readers. The story has a nice theme for young children and teaches them the lesson of working together. I recommend this book for children age 3-7 years old.
The Great Dinosaur Race is an amazing children's book. This book is about two brothers and their pet dinosaurs. The two brothers compete with their dinosaurs to see who is best. This book would be very interesting to a young reader, especially boys. Dinosaurs is a good way to capture the attention of young readers. This book really flows with the rhyming and the poetry that is used, but I think the main point of this book comes at the end when the brothers run into some trouble and have to use teamwork. It is a very good example for younger readers to realize that teamwork is more important than competing to find out who is better. This is another book that I will be bringing into my classroom. I feel as if this would be a good conversation starter to get my students to talk about the importance of teamwork!
The grandchildren love this book, actually every book this author writes gets added to the library. The grands delight in Grandma reading to them at bedtime. It has become a tradition.
This is a great story to share with children. The illustrations go along with the rhyming story. My five year old Godson enjoyed it. He wanted me to read it to him again. I liked that it taught a really good lesson in a fun way.
I liked these book so much that I downloaded The Six Pirates: A Rollicking & Rhyming Picture Book. (Fun Rhyming Children's Books) by Lily Lexington.
A great book to help curb discuss competition between siblings. Competition is okay, when it is not too excessive. My sons like this book a lot. The illustrations and rhyming storyline are fun for kids.
Two brothers compete to see whose pet dinosaur is best, but wind up having to cooperate to escape from a hole they fall into during the race. You could read the story with kids to illustrate the point of cooperation, but it isn't something that kids would read and re-read on their own.
