Rate this book
A collection of six short-shorts—perfect for those quick-read moments. Most with twist endings that are sure to surprise you.

Lover’s Leap
Young love and a life ended too soon. It’s always the ones left behind who suffer.

Everlasting Love
Unloved, undesired, brokenhearted ... Cole Murphy is about to end it all until the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen walks into his life. Cole’s dreams and hopes of love are renewed—but not quite the way he’s imagined.

The Water of Leith
Held captive for years, Naomi is given a promise of release if she can only turn an old brown rag into a beautiful white cloth. Can she do? Does she really believe?

Unbridled Love
Two hundred years ago, monstrous storms pummeled the earth destroying almost everything. Some humans survived, stronger, different, changed by the storms. A genetic disorder passed down from generation to generation, creating a new race. A race with … special gifts. Feared and forced into hiding, Solange and Roland must fight to survive when their talents are discovered.

Stuck
Angela returns home from an exhausting business trip and wants nothing more than to relax. Her thoughts of relaxing turn to sheer panic as she walks in to find her entire house redecorated and she’d only been gone a week. Her husband Jack confesses how it all happened, but she has a difficult time believing it’s not all a joke when he tells her he didn’t win the lottery or inherit a huge amount of money from long lost relative. Jack manages to reassure her everything is okay. But is it?

Sweet Innocence
The headline plastered across the newspaper claimed they identified the body of a young woman. Jenna recognized the name instantly. Her friend Beth’s body had gone unidentified ever since its discovery in an alley near a 24-hour diner on a Saturday night in January of 1955. Today’s date was August 7, 2012.

Susan Griscom, writes paranormal and contemporary romance. She's hooked on gritty romances and is a huge fan of superheroes and bad boys confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers, and abilities beyond the norm mixed with steamy romance, of course.

She loves those days when she gets to sit around in her sweat pants, doing nothing but writing emotionally charged stories about love and violence and drinking coffee.

She lives in Northern California with her romantic husband and together they have five great superhero kids and eight mini-superhero grand kids, so far.

Brief Interludes is a collection of six short stories that will entertain and delight you. Author Susan Griscom showcases her excellent writing ability in these stories to such an extreme that you will not want to put this book down. Even though the stories are very short, they are so brilliantly written that each one draws you in immediately and the endings are delightful surprises. Writing a short story is a unique talent that not all authors who write full-length novels can achieve, but Susan Griscom has definitely conquered it. You will be enthralled by each of these stories and will definitely want to read more by this talented author after reading Brief Interludes.

Note: Author provided me with a free copy for a fair and honest review.

Now I'm not usually a fan of short stories but I wanted to give this a shot. I'm so glad I did. These stories are very short but they are just PACKED with emotion. The very first one made me tear up a little. It's hard to really describe the stories without giving much away since they are so short. However I loved these little tales so much I've already reread them Definitely don't miss out!

Brief Interludes is just that, short stories of brief encounters. Each encounter has the potential to evolve into a stand alone story in its own right and the briefness of each story gives you just enough to capture your attention and at the same time leaves you wanting more. Several of the short stories left me wanting to know what happened or what could happen and wondering if Griscom has any intention of turning any of these brief interludes into full novels. I really hope so!

This book reminded me of how much I love short stories. It's been a while since I've read any shorts, and I found these stories to be fun and thought-provoking. Susan has a good handle on short fiction; BRIEF INTERLUDES proves she can entertain with vignettes while still offering up quality full-length novels (see her WHISPER CAPE paranormal romance series!!)

I loved this, it was short but sweet! The title is perfect cause it's exactly what we're getting, brief interludes into different characters lives. Just little snapshots of very significant and (to me) defining moments from their lives. Really enjoyed it!

This is a book of very short stories, glimpses into the characters lives. I thought some were quite good but others didn't do it for me, the fact they were so short meant that things were developed and wrapped up quickly, and I didn't think this quick development worked for all the stories.

This book contains short stories. The only complaint I have is that I wanted more. I really enjoyed the stories. I got chills when I read Everlasting Love and Sweet Innocence. I had tears in my eyes after reading Lover's Leap. Very enjoyable quick read.

I love books that contain short stories. It gives you a chance to look into the mind of the author and see what fun things lurk in there. I loved Unbridled Love. I am hoping that one becomes a full length novel!
