This is a sweet story about a girl who enjoys making things and dressing up. When she makes these she wears her Granny Elsie's precious hat. One day her brother Ollie breaks the hat and upsets Clara so her mother offers to take her to a place of her choosing. Clara wants a magical hat day.... so they go to the museum where she finds someone to fix her precious hat.
I do like this book and think it is an easy read however I do not think that children would be entirely gripped by it as there is no excitement or really interesting plot twists or characters. This is not to say I would not give children the opportunity to read this independently.

Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day by Amy de la Haye is a delightful tale of creativity and imagination. Accompanied by Emily Sutton’s vibrant illustrations, Clara’s adventure in the Victoria and Albert Museum, celebrates art, fashion, and the joy of self-expression, charming readers of all ages.
I was so excited when this book arrived and the illustrations did not disappoint. However, the story did not fulfil my expectations. My daughter made sighing noises throughout. The story didn't fit with the magical surroundings of the museum. It failed to capture the wonder of the place. The illustrations are worth five stars and are an absolute dream. Sadly, this makes this book something exceedingly pretty to gaze at, but definitely not a book to get lost in.
Charming and British, this lovely book will delight children with the mistaken impression that when you visit the V&A very few other tourists/London residents will be in attendance. Comes with stickers, yay.
