I loved this book. I really appreciate the wisdom and care of Beningfield for the natural world, and really relate to his words. Such gorgeous artworks, also really relating to how I see and feel the countryside. He has inspired me to slow down to notice the small things even more. 5 ⭐️

Beningfield's Countryside by Gordon Beningfield (Viking Press 1982)(571.942) is a beautiful book of original paintings by the author. According to the frontispiece, "This book is an artist's portrait of southern England in which he lives and works." This is a beautiful and somewhat whimsical edition. My rating: 7/10, finished 2/18/14.
