3rd edition is slightly dated but still a useful resource.

Passing it on . . . Have used the 1987 edition hiking with my family since the book came out. Recorded notes right in the book on what my daughters and son said and did on each hike. So when my son-in-law started taking my granddaughter on hikes and overnighting on trails, I bought the new edition, wrote in all my notes on what my granddaughter's mother, aunt, uncle and grandmom had said and done 25 years ago on those trails, and gave it to her dad for Christmas. BIG HIT! And the best thing is that Homan's book, though somewhat reorganized and expanded since 1987, is still accurate and informative about the trails, fauna, and flora you'll expect to see on each trail, not to mention accurate descriptions and directions to trailheads and markers. Great book, and great service to hikers, whether day-trippers or overnighters. HIGHLY recommend this guide!
