A pictoral history of mansions in the US. Outstanding photos and historical narrative, including insight on the owners and times. Spans time from post Civil War starting the opulent wealth, through the Gilded Age to the stockmarket crash which ended the wealth. Includes the Wetmore house in Newport, RI.

It's fun to imagine having the kind of money and taste to decorate such mansions.
