God in the Mirror: Discovering Who You Were Created to Be

Rate this book
It's tempting to define ourselves according to the cultural and societal icons of our day. More than ever, the world tells us that "image is everything." But human beings were created in the image of God, a truth of which Miles McPherson wants to remind believers. In "God in the Mirror," McPherson shows readers how they were created, why they were created, what their true purpose is in life, and how to remake themselves according to God's original plan for their lives.
He reminds readers that they not only have the capacity to reflect God's holiness to the world, but that God enables them to do so. And when we live more and more as image-bearers in this world, we begin to experience repaired relationships with each other and with God.
The "God in the Mirror" DVD and discussion guide present six sessions that will equip individuals, small groups, and church classes to grapple with what it means to be made in the image of God and what the implications are for our daily lives.

“If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, chances are you need to adjust your view. God In The Mirror will help you by Miles McPherson God In The Mirror:Discoveering Who You Were Created To Be a great and inspired book.My opinon about this how he talks about “God made man in his Image. Also, talks about what Image means.

The theme of this book is showing why did God create man in his image. For example, “I” stands for Individually unique. Which means you’re unique, one of a kind. Also, nobody can take your place with God’s universal. Then, Moses ask God name and he replied “I AM WHO I AM” .This is what you are to say to the Israelites.Tell them, I AM has sent which is God name.

Also, Miles talks about Moral Mirror which “M” is the second letter from the word image.Which means you’re created to reflect God’s moral character, his heart, mind, and holiness. For example , God Moral standard which righteous means a state of righteous that always does what ought to be done. Then he talks about Authority to Rule “A” is the third letter from the word image .Which means you’ve been empowered with the authority over your physical and spiritual environment, not people. As a result, show how God created the planet earth and then gave us the authority to care for it with the expectation that he show us.

Finally, he talks about God’s Friend which “G” is the fourth letter from the word image. When it means you’ve been created to have , as a friend of God, an intimate, loving relationship with him.For example, God IMAGE and the process of showing a right relationship with God, one through which he can share his Love with the world. The last letter is “E’ which is eternal which means you’ve been designed to live forever with God.As a result he shows God is eternal,so we are enternal and eternal focus for our lives and develope an eternal plan for our souls.

My conclusion is how love what he talks about the word image.also when he defined each word about and what it means. Also it inspired me the way I act and other stuffs.

It’s easy even for believers to be confused and ask that nagging question: what am I here for. What significance do I have? What do I have to contribute? What is my life’s purpose? Any way you word it, the point is the same. McPherson provides a clear answer in this book. It is a quick read—only 234 pages, but they are powerful and challenging. He sums his answer with one word which serves as an acrostic for each topical division in his book. That word is image. Or, should I say I.M.A.G.E.? Specifically, we were created in God’s image, and His purpose is for us to be found in His image in every aspect of our lives. Although Miles does not use this particular verse in his text, I can’t help but apply this verse to define his message: “with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26. We can offer any number of excuses why we cannot be found in God’s image, but He has made it possible.

My sole criticism is the few times Miles stated the same thing more than three or four times but in different ways. Reading began to bog down a little for me, but overall, I loved and resonated with his message. I recommend it to all my friends.

Amazing book! Every believer and non believer should read this and apply the information given. McPherson explain in a very simple and easy way to understand what God created us for, to live a life that reflects His character. It also explains the consequences of rejecting God which is an eternity without Him. A great read!!
