A good story. Read about Paul who is a new Christian and he is flying in supplies to southern Sudan. He meets Larson the doctor there helping the people in the area. She is rebelling against God. Then her adopted daughter gets kidnapped. Will they find Rachel alive and whole? Will Paul survive or will his family who wants to kill him find him first? Will Larson finally turn back to God? what will happen in the village or will more of them die fighting for freedom?

I liked this book because the author really showed what it is like in the Sudan. The book was really rough on Muslims but I figured its due to hearing the southerns view points. This book is so full of Christian ideals. Its a shame that the story ended on a good note with everything turning out alright. Like that happens!

Great plot and setting, good characters. The writing is a bit choppy, sometimes the visuals feel 'skipped', but great for speed-readers. I feel the author's 'agenda' is worthy, but very pronounced and removed me from the story several times.

When the Lion Roars and When the River Runs Red showcase Mills' far-reaching skill. The story is masterful, poignant, and exquisitely told. Mills condenses an immense subject into the precise lives of three people. It's one of those books that leaves you a better person after reading.
