I got this book because it was offered free and I thought, why not. It's not something I would normally read, so I wasn't expecting to like it much. Happily, I liked it very much. It was sweet, romantic, frustrating, sexy, maddening, and eye opening. There is a very good man, hurt deep from a greta loss and a intelligent woman damaged by her controlling family. Together, perhaps they can find a way to happiness. The perfect summer read.
The characters are very intelligent, strong, sexual, and yet sometimes dumb arses. I really liked how the author paid respect to both their jobs and their reasoning. She gave the Navy Seals a big bow to the depth of sacrifice in all areas of their lives to protect and serve. I never considered the cost of our service men and women in their person lives, it is huge.

Low-angst, hot and sweet. I don't understand why they took so long to get together and why Alexia was so upset he was a Seal. The action scenes with the kidnapping were very good. The love scenes were steamy and nicely written.

A SEAL's Seduction
4.5 Stars

The daughter of a Navy Admiral, Alexia Pierce, has sworn never to become involved with anyone in the military. Navy SEAL Lieutenant Blake Landon is grieving the loss of a teammate and isn’t interested in a relationship. Neither of these facts can stop the intense chemistry and steamy passion that sizzles between them.

The delightful characters and engaging premise make this a must read despite the inaccuracies in military jargon and protocol.

Alexia and Blake’s romance grabs you from their start. Their chemistry is off the charts and their banter is sexy and fun, but there is also a more serious and emotional component to their connection. Moreover, they demonstrate the extent to which highly intelligent and capable individuals can be blind to the truth that is right in front of them. Thankfully, their idiocy is short-lived and even somewhat cute, and their angst ultimately heightens the tension toward the end.

The minor action plot isn’t exactly the most thrilling, but is does add an element of excitement and adventure that compliments the romance.

All in all, an entertaining way to spend a few hours and I’m eager to continue with this steamy series.

I have to say, this was pretty much in line with my expectations of Harlequin. And they're set pretty low. I don't know much about the Navy SEALs, but it appears neither does the author. And she didn't bother to do much in the way of research, either, in order to write a book about NAVY SEALS! Part of what makes a story good, to me, is believe-ability. This totally lacked that. From the generic lingo (sorry, but throwing in a few mentions of BUDs does NOT an authentic SEAL-grounded story make) and ridiculous plot, to the conversations between the characters, and the cringe-inducing flowery language in the sex scenes, it made my head hurt. Made me roll my eyes countless times.
So while some might have enjoyed this quick, light read, I won't be delving into any more of these books. Thanks, but no thanks, Harlequin. I'll take frenzied, messy, REALISTIC sex any day.

I'm so glad I picked this freebie up. It was a quick hot read. The main couple had some valid reasons for not being together, and amazingly enough, they were the same ones. Thankfully, they worked through them and got their HEA.

I'm looking forward to the next one which is about Blake's SEAL team buddy, Cade.

It's okay. Quick, cute read. It's nothing to write home about.
Surprisingly, the sex was pretty disappointing, and the weakest part of the book, imo.

Full review will be posted next week.

but didn't LOVE it like I usually love my Navy Seals ... maybe because there was was no real Navy Seal action, no interaction with other Seals. I don't know. It wasn't bad - glad it was a freebie.

Blake Landon is One HOT highly decorated Navy Seal. After one of the team and close friend is killed on a mission, everyone is ordered to take a two week mandatory R&R break. While away from duty Blake meets Alexia and her brother Michael not knowing she is the daughter of the Admiral.

Alexia has always been brilliantly smart and has always clashed with her parents. She has always felt like her father treated her and her brother like the military men under his command. Basically If and order is given it is to be followed, no questions asked. So Alexia has made it her mission to avoid all military men when dating. When a second chance meeting happens between these two what is a girl to do? Well have intense sex for the next few days. But when Alexia learns Blake is not only a Navy Seal but that he has served under her father, she cuts all ties and refuses to let Blake back in.

But forces will bring these two back together again, and in a way I did not see coming. This was a really good read that was offered through Harlequin for free. I truly enjoyed the relationship between brother & sister. I also enjoyed seeing the relationship between Alexia & her parents improve. And you also get a peak into what being a Navy Seal must be like. Also the passion between these two was ... Intense. I look forward to reading Cade Sullivan's story ... A Seal's Surrender

What it's about: This is the first installment of her Uniformly Hot SEALs series from Harlequin's Blaze line. It involves Blake Landon, a SEAL also called Boy Scout, who is the one who follows rules to a T. After being ordered on leave, he's looking for something to keep his mind off his last mission. And then we have Alexia Lane, super smart, a bit high maintenance and at times a little annoying. She's looking for something to light up her body and heart. When the two collide, rules and inhibitions fly out the window.

Why you should download it: It's a typical romance that is perfect for reading curled up on a rainy day (or one where the pollen count is too high to step foot outside) — and for someone who is looking for an escape. The best part of the book, though, wasn't the bedroom scenes, but the awesome plot and action scenes, especially the kidnapping. If you want a fast-paced romance featuring two lovers who will break their own rules for love and steam, pick it up

I'll say it right out of the box. The only thing that really bothered me about this book was the fact that Alexia kept referring to Blake as a soldier. Blake was a Navy SEAL. Anyone in the Navy is referred to as a sailor. Soldiers are in the Army; marines are in the Marine Corps; airmen are in the Air Force. Call it foible but it drove me crazy.

That being said, I actually enjoyed the book. It was interesting to see how long it would take Alexia to discover that Blake was exactly what she didn't want in a man...military...like her father. You manage to develop a healthy dislike for the admiral. He's lifetime Navy and expects a certain behavior from his children however, neither Alexia or her brother Michael, who happens to be gay, seem to be able to fit into the admirals mold. You seem to think that way about Alexia's mother until she eventually shows a kinder side toward the end of the book.

It's definitely worth the read but you just have to get past the soldier reference.

Review of free, Kindle edition of 2013 Harlequin Blaze erotic romance

Alexia is a beautiful woman in her late 20's who is a brilliant scientist involved in research aimed at helping victims of sexual assault. She is alienated from her father, who is a harsh, cold Navy admiral who for decades has overseen the training of SEALs, and she is only mildly close with her easygoing, complacent mother. The most important person in her life is her brother who is her best friend. He is a handsome, Calvin Klein model who is openly gay and is sensitive and supportive toward Alexia.

Alexia has major daddy issues, and as a result is only interested in men whose careers are nothing like her father's. That is, they must not be in the military or involved in classified work that involves keeping secrets from one's family.

When she meets Navy SEAL Blake Landon on the beach, and then later that same night at a local bar, she doesn't realize what he does for a living and doesn't ask because he's gorgeous and she's looking for a good time in bed. It is only after they have, as total strangers, shacked up and spent days having 24-hour sex that she finally asks him what he does for a living. When he freely tells her, she is as enraged as if he purposely deceived her and throws him out of her house. Blake makes many attempts to get her to reconsider, but Alexia is adamant. As a result of her stubborn determination, Blake assumes he will never see her again. But months later, Alexia's father urgently summons Blake to stage a secret, daring, one-man mission to rescue her from a gang of terrorists who have imprisoned her in a stronghold in the snowbound Alaskan wilderness.

Prior to reading this book, which I obtained as a free Kindle ebook, I hadn't experienced a Harlequin Blaze novel since this line was first introduced in 2001 as an offshoot of the Temptation line. In my perception, the line rapidly evolved into typical stories such as heroines running sex-toy shops or hotels dedicated to sexual fantasies, and all the heroines seem to be single gals on the make--which is the case with this book's heroine. Unfortunately, now as back then, a heroine whose major story goal is to find a hunky guy who is a "good lay" isn't my particular cup of tea.

This quote from the hero Blake pretty much sums up the entire philosophy of the Blaze line: "Great sex? That's not just physical. Once or twice, sure. But days on end? That's a connection....Sometimes a once-in-a-lifetime kind of connection." In essence, in the world of a Blaze novel, when a horny woman engages in stranger sex with a hot guy, this inevitably becomes the stepping stone to true love.

I personally couldn't get into the sex scenes in this book. They were top-heavy at the beginning of the book when the protagonists knew nothing about each other, and descriptions of mindless interactions between body parts doesn't do anything for me. I prefer romance over sheer sex. The main part of this book that I found interesting was when Blake rescues Alexia from terrorists. That is, I liked the actual rescue and how he pulled it off, but the premise for her being a target of terrorists seemed cartoonishly improbable to me.

I also had problems with the heroine. I read and review a lot of young-adult fiction, and Alexia reminds me of the classic YA character of the beautiful, cheerleader, Mean Girl. As such, Alexia is not a particularly sympathetic character.

I found Blake much more appealing and interesting. He was raised in a trailer park and joined the Navy the day after he graduated from high school. In the decade or so since then, he has risen to the rank of lieutenant, and he is a decorated SEAL with the skills of radioman and linguist.

I have recently been rereading many of Suzanne Brockmann's SEAL novels from the late 1990's and early 2000's which have been re-released in Kindle format. There is no comparison in quality between her treatment of SEALs and this book's version. If you would like to read a really exciting story where the SEAL hero rescues the heroine from terrorists, I highly recommend Everyday, Average Jones. For my taste anyway, it is much better done, and the romance is very moving and emotionally charged.

I rate this book as follows:

Heroine: 3 stars
Hero: 4 stars
Romance Plot: 2 stars
Rescue Plot: 3 stars
Overall: 3 stars

I thoroughly love romances in which one of the characters is in the military. I thought this was actually a decent read, in spite of my disdain for insta-love and/or insta-attraction. But 3 stars is all I could give it, and really I'm leaning towards 2.5 stars. This was a freebie on Amazon and a quickie. I didn't mind the plot though it was a bit farfetched (speaking as an Army brat). And the sex scenes were quite steamy. The book starts off with Blake's grieving over a fallen comrade, but the author never goes in to detail as to HOW he actually grieves and manages to get over his friend's death. Once Blake meets Alexia the second time, his depression all but disappears. The romance moved extremely too fast. (Sidebar: I'm noticing a trend in authors that don't want to develop in-depth plot lines: just speed everything up). I'm all for fantasy, that's part of the allure of reading romances, BUT: falling in love in a week; then getting into a major argument which causes the parties to not communicate for 8 months; after which Alexia is mysteriously kidnapped, causing Blake to rescue her; which in turn, allows Alexia and Blake to rekindle their romance? Umm. Impossible and as I've mentioned before in previous reviews, I'm highly gullible. Instead of developing a credible romance, which this book had so much to potential to be, the author got lazy and haphazardly mashed various of subplots together. The book never really came together for me and I ended up disliking Alexia because of her inability to not give a damn about her unsupportive family. As much as she tried to be independent, she kept coming back to take more crap from her mother and father. And Blake just didn't seem fully developed for me. We saw a little bit of his vulnerabilities, but not enough - too much focus was on Alexia.

Note for the author: the first few chapters contained way too much usage of the phrase "girlie parts." Alexia is a grown woman and in her narration she keeps referring to her arousal as getting tingling/hot/etc in her "girlie parts." I wasn't sure if I was reading YA or not. Decent read but probably won't read any more from the author unless the book is free.

Good book. Blake is a SEAL who is very good at what he does. When a mission ends badly he and his team are ordered to take leave. Blake prefers to be busy, so the time with nothing to do gives him too much time to think and remember the loss of his friend. When he meets Alexia on the beach, they immediately connect. They don't exchange much in the way of personal information, but their other exchanges are smoking hot.

Alexia has come back to California for a research job. It also puts her closer to her family, including her by-the-book admiral father. They barely speak, and when they do it's usually to argue. Alexia has a mind of her own and her father's controlling attitude always rubs her wrong. She is also very big on communication, and growing up there was very little of that going on. She swears she will never get involved with a military man because of it. When she meets Blake, she doesn't know that he's a SEAL, and not just any SEAL, but one of her father's proteges. She finds out when her father tries to set them up. She's furious, thinking that Blake had purposely hidden who and what he was, and ends things right there.

Fast forward eight months. She hasn't been able to forget him, and Blake is constantly thinking about her. Then he gets tagged for a special rescue mission, only to discover that it's Alexia that has been captured by a terrorist. The rescue mission and its aftermath are eyeopeners for both of them. I loved Alexia's conversation with her mother about life as a military wife - so true. And Blake learns how the support of someone you love can make you stronger, not weaker. The ending with the dinner at her parents' house was terrific.

My only complaint with the book was the constant referring to the SEALs as soldiers. They are not. Soldiers are in the army. SEALs are sailors, first and foremost, just as Marines are Marines. Both get a bit testy when you call them soldiers.

Free kindle download of 2013 Harlequin edition.

A Navy SEAL grieving from watching his best friend killed on a mission meets and falls for a woman, daughter of an Admiral, who wants absolutely nothing to do with anyone in the military. This great premise hooked me, but the constant issues with military jargon, protocol, and stereotypes made me hate this one. As other reviewers have mentioned, even the incorrect use of the term "soldier" started to drive me crazy by chapter 3. (i.e. Only the Army has Soldiers. The Marines are Marines. The Air Force has Airmen, and the Navy has Sailors.) Although the general public might not pick up on all the military errors (which go way beyond the use of "soldier"), each worked as a buzzing gnat around my head as I tried to read this...each new error adding another gnat to the bunch. Before long, all the annoying buzzing made it impossible to concentrate on anything else, including the plot progression. The inane kidnapping plot almost made this a DNF but I finished it just because I wanted to see if any of the stereotypes presented early on get redeemed by the end. They didn't.

This book started off good, then BANG it took a right on to Corny Lane!! It all of a sudden became a 007, mission impossible story. I couldn't stop SMH because the reasons for Alexia getting kidnapped didn't seem realistic. It reminded me of a novella story line, actually more like a Spanish novella story line!!! I kept finding myself wanting to say Aye Dios mio, while reading it!

My Review

Thank you to Harlequin Blaze and Netgalley for the opportunity to review. Okay let’s see where do we begin?

We have a very smart and defiant female lead: only issue- the need to stay away from Navy boys and Military men in general! That comes undone when she meets Blake. Not realizing that he is a SEAL, and under her father’s command, until her fathers retirement party, Alexia engages in a few days worth of sex, fun and a lot of orgasms!

Blake has just lost a member of his team and one of his best friends. Ordered to a mandatory 2 week leave, he finds himself spending a rocking few days with a specific redhead. Allowing himself to get close to someone and “break” his own rules of allowing himself to believe in more than just his job, Alexis changes his world and shifts it upside down.

Both of their worlds are shattered when she learns that Blake is a SEAL and she feels betrayed while he feels hurt and angry at her behavior. She only had one rule: no military men….

When Alexia is kidnapped, her father requests Blake and a specific SEAL team to rescue her. After eight months of thinking about her and wanting her, he accepts his mission and sets off to Alaska to rescue her.

Wow!!! Blake in action, is probably one of the hottest things I’ve read in a while. Blake is conflicted between his feelings for Alexia and the basics of his training, yet he manages to pull through and bring her to safety where they end up sharing another night of passion.

The novel was a quick read and my only complaint is that I wished it was slightly longer. I was happy that Blake and Alexia ended up overcoming their insecurities relating to their relationship. The characters were fun to read and the interaction between them seemed to flow very well. Their chemistry is definitely hot and not to be missed!

If you are looking for a quick read…I definitely recommend Weber’s A SEALs Seduction.

REVIEW: A SEAL’S SEDUCTION is the first installment in Tawny Weber’s UNIFORMLY HOT SEALs contemporary romance series. This is Blake and Alexia’s story. The premise focuses on Blake’s two week R & R and Alexia’s need to get out and have a good time. When the two of them meet, sparks fly and a one-night stand turns into something more. But when Alexia discovers that Blake is a Navy SEAL under the commander of her father, she walks away leaving Blake with a broken heart.

The storyline and conclusion are predictable as are all contemporary romance storylines. You have the instant attraction and sex, the angst and betrayal, and finally the reconciliation between the couple you know belong together.

The characters are flawed: each has issues they must deal with before embarking on a relationship. Alexia’s relationship with her family is strained, due in part to a controlling father and her need to prove herself worthy. But her attitude at times was a little disheartening-the only person, to whom she felt any love, was her brother and he too, had some issues at home. I am not sure if you would consider the adult children –Navy Brats- but there were definitely some dysfunctional family problems.

Blake is the consummate professional SEAL. His relationship with Alexia and her subsequent rejection left him distraught and angry. But eight months after Alexia walks away, their lives will take a dramatic turn, and they will be thrown together for another night of passion and love. But it is Alexia’s mother who will open Alexia’s eyes and heart to the possibility that love with a professional military man is worth the heartache and worry when at the end of the day, she will be loved and cherished.

A SEAL’S SEDUCTION is a quick paced storyline with a little action, a little romance, a little sex and a little family drama. The emotional connection between the hero/heroine lacked a little something, but overall the storyline is a welcome reprieve from the usual paranormal stories. If you are looking for a quick read with a happily ever after, A Seal’s Seduction is the perfect escape.

I really liked the sound of this one but in the end I was really disappointed with it. I couldn’t connect with the characters or the story and it didn’t engage me at all.

The characters were annoying and unlikeable. Blake had no real personality at all and he was really quite boring. When he meets Alexia she makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with military men at all. Instead of telling her he is a SEAL and proving to her that her ideas of men in the military are wrong he hides the truth from her and then starts sleeping with her. If that happened to me I would be livid, it was not a good move.

Alexia is no better, in fact she is worse and she constantly contradicts herself. She spends a whole dinner trying to dump Edward (the guy she is dating) because she is 100% sure she does not want to be with him. Not that I blame her, he is boring, doesn’t believe in passion and wants to plan their sex life in an organised and sensible fashion, somehow she doesn’t dump him and a chapter latter is talking about how she has feelings for Edward that needs to be explored, what happened to that 100%? Five minutes after that she is chatting up Blake and not look after that they are in bed together.

Another thing she did that was infuriating was categorize all the people in a night club, she claims the woman are all there to get laid or to find a husband and makes it clear that she doesn’t think highly of them or the military guys they are after. When she is asked what category she falls into she claims that it is not right to label people or make generalisations…but wait, IS THAT NOT WHAT YOU JUST DID?!? She was also extremely full of herself and to be honest I hated her.

The storyline was alright but it was a little far-fetched and didn’t interest me enough. I really didn’t enjoy this book the characters were just too horrible.

You know that feeling you get when you've had a book sit on your kindle or bookshelf for so long that you finally sit down and have a read? You then mentally kick yourself hard because you feel like you've deprived yourself of a bloody good story wrapped up in loads of deliciousness?

Well that's what happened when I read Tawny Weber's A Seal's Seduction!

Blake and Alexia radomly meet on the beach but Blake has other things on his mind so he's shocked, as is Alexia, to meet up in what's known as the local Naval club. Giving into the electricity between them they spend a long and hot (as in Blaze all the way) weekend together only to reluctantly part ways due to a prior engagement that night. At that engagement they discover who each other is and are both furious for various reasons. Scoot to 8 months later when Navy Seal Blake is missioned to rescue Alexia from a terrorist kidnapping.

What I dont share with you is the build up to the meeting and the feelings they have and the point of views of each character. They are both strong minded, strong willed and the stars and planets are not aligned for them to have a happy ever after. Alexia's father is to blame for her thoughts but then on the other hand he's trying to get Blake interested in Alexia. None of this will make sense until you read this.

I give it 5 stars because I wasted my whole Saturday devouring this story. Not wasted but gave up time to do anything else. It's truly a fantastic story, ticks all the boxes and I will be reading Cade's story which I forgot I also had.

A bonus it being free but now that I've read it I would have paid top dollar!

I picked this book up for two reasons. First, it was free. Second, I read Temptation, then Blaze for so many years, that I’m always hopeful that I’ll find that magic of the 1980s and 1990s. And . . . not so much.

Let me be upfront. I don’t like police, firefighter, private eye, private security, or military heroes. For the most part, though, the hero’s job didn't bother me too much. It was the heroine’s job that: Drove Me Crazy. So our intrepid heroine is an acoustic psychologist or some such thing (I’m going to look it up.) who wants to treat sexual abuse victims with subliminal messages so they can get their groove on—and derive sexual pleasure from, well, sex.

I’m not a abuse/trigger person so, that idea didn't bother me so much. There was one scene where she was describing her job to the hero and flirting with him at the same time. Rape and sexual abuse are so far from flirting and Navy SEAL sex that I was totally repelled by it. Every time her job came up, her parents or even the heroine herself kept talking about how her job was about ‘sex’ and how it was embarrassing to talk about in public. I could not help but cringe. Rape, abuse are not about sex, but power. Talking about it like it was really about sex offended my inner-feminist on so many levels.

My other problem with the book was the lack of connection I felt between the characters, but I didn’t expect more. I haven’t gotten that in a Blaze in a very long time. So if you’re not offended by anything above, and like lots of military hero sex, then go forth and enjoy as long as it’s free.
