"Trust me."

The Last Chance bar was Veronica Lane's last hope. Desperate to find her missing brother, the sheltered computer programmer turned to Jasper Adams--the man she'd been warned to stay far away from. Veronica knew she was putting her life into the hands of the former Army Ranger, who aroused desire she had to resist at all costs.

Posing as a ruthless mercenary was a cover for what Jasper was really doing: hunting a killer. And Veronica was in the line of fire. The soldier-turned-elite-ops-agent knew he was playing a dangerous game--trying to win her trust while deceiving her about his true mission. What would happen once Veronica discovered that everything about him was a lie...everything except his passion for her?

4 Solid Stars!! Way better than the first book!!

Cynthia Eden brought the goods with this one! Loved the lead characters, Veronica and Jasper, and all the supporting cast!! Lots of edge-of-your-seat action, and the killer was pretty much a mystery up until the end. Passionate, hot sex, that felt real, not forced like in the first book. This series is picking up steam, and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book, Sharpshooter! I love Gunner and Sydney and their relationship is going to be explosive...I can feel it! Plus, by the end of this book, you know who will be featured in book 4. I was so hoping he would get a book, and when it played out the way I wanted it to, I was thrilled!!

The narrator hit her stride and found her 'voice' in this book!

Note: Jasper is blond and a former Ranger. The black-haired guy wearing dog tags on the cover may be hot and all that, but he is not Jasper. Get it right, Harlequin!

Very good book, definitely intense. I really liked both Veronica and Jasper. Veronica knows that there is something wrong when she doesn't hear from her brother for six months. He has always managed to stay in touch with her before. So she goes looking for help from Jasper, an old army buddy of Cale's. She doesn't know that Jasper is part of a team that is already looking for Cale, who is believed to be killing their fellow agents. When she meets Jasper not only is she immediately attracted to him, she also trusts him. As they begin their search other murders happen and she ends up in the crossfire. When the truth about his presence comes out she is hurt and furious. She also keeps insisting the Cale is innocent. I loved her intelligence and ingenuity as she used her brain to work to find and clear her brother. She also had a core of strength that was unexpected to people who didn't know her. She had a deep sense of loyalty which even extended to Jasper even when she was mad at him. I also liked the way that his past and his profession didn't diminish her feelings for him.

Jasper was great. I liked the fact that he really didn't want to believe that Cale had betrayed them all even when all the evidence was pointing that way. He was determined to find him though, no matter what it took. He didn't expect Veronica to come to him with her plea for help and he sure didn't expect the intense attraction that he felt. He was also quite certain that he wasn't anywhere near good enough for her and tried very hard to resist the attraction. That got harder when she became a target in the mess that was going on. At that point his focus turned to keeping her safe first and finding Cale second. I loved seeing him stand up to Logan about her. I also loved seeing him open up and begin to accept that he might be able to win the girl. His part at the end was very well done.

The suspense story itself was great. The action was pretty much non-stop. I liked seeing the other members of the EOD team again and how they were still working on finding out who was trying to take down the EOD. There were plenty of intense scenes while trying to figure out who was behind these murders. Just when I thought I had it figured out there were a couple twists thrown in that made me wonder. I also enjoyed the buildup to Gunner and Sydney's story - can't wait to read that one!

An equal blend of mystery, suspense and romance.

In the first book in the series we find out that someone is killing EOD agents. All of the evidence so far points to Cale Lane, which has brought the Shadow Agents to the small Texas town where his sister lives.

Veronica Lane hasn't heard from her brother in 6 months. No matter what kind of missions he was on he always managed to contact during his time away. When she finds out that one his is army ranger buddies is at the town bar she decides to go and ask him for help in figuring out what could have happened to her brother.

Jasper Adams came to town posing as a mercenary hoping to get information on Cale and also knowing that Cale loved his sister that he would eventually show up. What he had not counted on was Veronica coming to him for help and his libido to sudden kick in on wanting things he knew he had no business wanting being the type of man he was. He also knew even if he did start something with Veronica it would go very far once she found out he was lying to her about why he was really there.

The whole team is back and when more murders start to happen that still point to Cale they are in a race to try and stop him before someone else is killed. But things are not always as they seem and with Veronica's determination to prove her brother isn't the killer brings up a lot of questions and also keeps putting her life in danger.

Will the team and Jasper figure out what is really going on before more agents or Veronica is killed?? The mystery was a good one in this book and keeps you guessing till towards the end.

I have to say that the build up between Gunner and Sydney is hot. I am totally expecting there book to rock!!

Another great book in this series. The hero cannot believe his luck when the heroine approaches him to search for his brother. He served with her brother in the rangers and is now part of an elite team. His team believes that her brother has been murdering people part of their unit and the heroine is the best lead to find him because her brother adores his sister.

Now, the heroine had been through a lot. She saw her parents die in a car crash, was raised in foster care, her only protector her brother. Her brother is now a mercenary and she hasn't heard from him in six months and no-one wants to help her. So, she goes to the hero who she met a long time ago, she thinks he too is a mercenary, not knowing about his team.

Even though the hero is lying to the heroine you like him. I loved the heroine's loyalty to her brother, her stuttering, everything about her. The book was awesome. Now, poor Cale deserves his book. And Gunner and Sydney!

Veronica Lane’s brother Cale is missing. The problem is that no one believes her.

Ironically Veronica’s last chance is at the Last Chance Bar. His name is Jasper Adams and he’s a mercenary who says he’ll help. What Veronica doesn’t know is Jasper really believes Cale is responsible for the deaths of his friends and fellow Shadow Agents.

Under the pretense of helping her find out where Cale is, Jasper really does want to find him, but he wants to bring him in to the EOD (Elite Operations Division). But staying close to Veronica has its other dangers. Jasper wants his buddy’s little sister. Bad. And it seems Veronica wants Jasper right back. How can Jasper be with her, when he’s lying about the reasons he’s with her?

Finding Cale isn’t the only priority for Jasper, at least not once he realizes Veronica’s life may be in danger as well. Once Jasper realizes that Veronica may have been right all along, that Cale isn’t the bad guy here, his mission becomes that much more complicated. With danger coming at them from every angle, how can they have a relationship?

The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and the romance was plenty hot. If you enjoy a good Romantic Suspense, then this Shadow Agents series is for you! Cynthia Eden has become my go-to author for Romantic Suspense. Whether it’s Paranormal or not, you can’t find a better romantic suspense author.

This was one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. The action scenes were so tense; I wanted to hold my breath. There was suspense, and romance. I didn’t guess the villain till it was revealed in the story. The story also had FBI agents. It made for a GREAT story line!
Veronica’s brother was missing. She remembered her brother once telling her never to have anything to do with Jasper. Cole, and Jasper use to work together in the Army. Veronica found Jasper, and begged him to help her find her brother Cole. There are fires, kidnappings, and bullets flying. So hold on to your seat as you read this one!
Sample from chapter 2 He whirled away and yanked open the office door. Over his shoulder, Veronica caught a glimpse of Wyatt rushing toward them. “Get out of here!” Wyatt yelled. He had keys in his hand. “The storage room in the back is burning!” Then Veronica heard the crackles of flames. An explosion shook the building, reverberating with stunning echo even as a blast of heat seemed to lance over her skin. Before she could do more than suck in a shocked breath, Jasper was hauling her out of the office and away from the flames – flames that weren’t just in the back room any longer. The flames were spreading around the station, burning with deadly ferocity. Burning. Everything around them was burning as greedy flames leaped across the station, destroying everything in their path.

I really enjoyed reading this. The chemistry is great between Jasper and Veronica. It was really nice to read about the other EOD members, especially Gunner and Sydney, can't wait to read their story. The villain was easy to figure out but it still left me wondering what will happen next. There were just a couple of mistakes in the middle where Jasper was called Cale (Veronica’s brother), but probably not immediately noticeable.

Same theme with the first book. Many twists and turns. Exciting suspense and romantic story. Despite the similarity in the theme, Ms Cynthia Eden wrote it absolutely well and different than the first. The characters were lovable and independent and pretty badass. Very action packed as expected of this series. Bravo!

Veronica's brother, Cale, is missing. She turns to Jasper, an ex-military friend of Cale's. Unbeknownst to her, Jasper is also looking for Cale. It appears that Cale is guilty of murder. Jasper works for an elite, off the books type, government agency.
Veronica was nice, although very sheltered. She grew on me as the book progressed and I liked how she came out of her shell. Yes, this contemporary romantic suspense still hit a pet peeve of mine (the heroine is a virgin- at 28).
I realize there were some things that Jasper couldn't share. My issue is he had moments where he lied and I didn't think he had to. He could have been more honest (to a point). Veronica forgave Jasper too quickly. Overall, this was satisfying.
I do know who the next couple is (Sydney and Gunner), with Cale's coming in book 4. I'm assuming the underlying storyline (who was the one paying for the hits) will continue on the next book.

Jadi agak ganjil melihat pembunuhnya berkeliaran utk membunuh.

Jika kalian menyukai adegan full action penuh ketegangan. Novel ini memang utk anda.

The storyline was better than the last. It seemed to hold my interest more and didn't get boring at any point. Characters not so much. Jasper was ok at best. I felt like he started off good but then about halfway he started becoming someone that I didn't like. There was a slight case of disbelief on my part close to the second half where he developed that entitled attitude that Logan had when he demanded the past (in Jasper's case lies) be forgotten and expect the heroine to let it go and think of the bigger picture. I liked at first because even though he sounded like a jerk to his team he felt guilty on the inside and knew he was wrong for lying to her. He showed remorse and knew that he would have to take responsibility for his deception after the truth came out. But he became a little arrogant when it did and refused to take his punishment like he should have. He wanted her to get over it and forgive him, I hate that behavior in a character that's done wrong. He also never even considered the possibility that Cale could be innocent. His EOD team is so good that they couldn't see they had the wrong man. Even I could see that it was too neat. None of them bothered to look further into it, especially Jasper since he knew him best. He knew how he operated, if he'd bothered to really think about it, he would have known it couldn't have been Cale. Jasper went from one chapter of judging him as a killer to the next chapter of putting things together and finally realizing Cale was being framed because the evidence was too obvious and not his style. The one thing I couldn't figure out though is why he condemned him as a killer so easily after they served together. They were on the same team and had become good friends. These men become like brothers to each other. How could he turn on him and assume that he was a cold-blooded killer after knowing and working with him all that time? It doesn't make sense that he'd just accept it and try to bring him in without considering he's innocent. They

Veronica was more likable than Juliana but I wish she'd have given Jasper a harder time for lying to her. She was too much of a pushover for me. It seemed more like she pretended to put up a good fight because it didn't take that much to get her forgiveness and cooperation. Had someone accused my brother of being a killer, used me to find him, and tried to explain their reasoning as necessary, there would have been a lot more apologizing they had to do before I even considered looking at them in a friendly way again. She was way too forgiving and must not have that much going on in her life if all it takes is a half ass apology, a few kisses, and not one but two near death experiences for both of them. I'm not a fan of the apology accepted because you almost died trope. It irks me when authors use that as a get out of jail free card to excuse a character's deception.

Cale was my favorite and definitely an all around great character. His personality was awesome. He never gave up and didn't let his former friend believing him to be a killer to get him down. He had the spirit of a fighter who wouldn't give up and give in to what the genius EOD wanted him to confess to being. He was smart, clever, and only got caught when his sister got caught up in the case proving how well he could get the job done if he truly did want to be the bad guy. The only saving factor about this book was him. He deserves so much better than working for the EOD. He's smarter, quicker, and just a lot more interesting to have around than the team of screw ups the EOD is known for.

I had guessed who the real killer was at first but then was tricked at one point. I liked how it played out though. It was worth reading once, if anything for just Cale because he was pretty awesome. I won't read this again though because there's too much Jasper and Veronica who are two dimwits that deserve each other and aren't good enough to even be associated with Cale. I will read Cale's book though and hope that the author doesn't ruin his image for me in his own book. As for this one, read at your own risk. The length of the book plays a huge factor in the storyline and will either make or break the book.

Veronica Lane walks into the Last Chance Bar and hires Jasper Adams, former Ranger and current mercenary, to find her brother, who she is sure is in danger. Veronica doesn't realize she's just hired one of the Shadow Agents not only already tasked with finding her brother, but for bringing him down for murdering other Shadow Agents. He hadn't expected the opportunity to get close to Veronica and to use her intel to track down her brother, but he'll take what the can get...even if he really does like her and even if the attraction between them is irresistible...even if he starts to fall a little bit in love. Jasper isn't comfortable lying to Veronica, but all the evidence points to her her brother as the villain, so he'll do what he needs to.

Similar kinda storyline to what I've been reading lately. Guy on a mission lies to /uses the heroine to complete his mission and then she finds out and is justifiably mad. Problem is, and the problem was here too, the heroine never holds on to her mad long enough and ends up forgiving the hero way too early. Here at least, Veronica does get pretty damn angry when she finds out that Jasper lied to her and slept with her while he was lying to her. He basically betrayed his friendship with her brother (what friendship when he believes her brother could be a killer?) and he really does lie to her face. Not just the morally dubious lie of omission...he straight out lies to her. Now, yeah, he had some moral flexibility, but his actions and her heartbreak create some hella good angst. And I love that Veronica basically call him out for what he is/does. But the angst wasn't drawn out enough and Jasper did not suffer enough. The action takes over and in the heat of suspense and likely death, they pretty much get over their issues. The suspense and mystery of finding out who the actual villain is is pretty good...is it the brother? someone else? Hmm... I do have to wonder though at the intelligence of a bunch of shadow agents that .

“I have come to expect great reads from Ms. Eden, she has yet to disappoint me. But I will admit that I’m beginning to think her Romantic Suspense is soaring more than the PNR I love so much.” ~Under The Covers

The Elite Operations Division aka the EOD continues to exist, off the grid of course and this time the mission is to find a killer targeting their very own. Jasper and the crew are on the hunt. The problem is the man in question is no other than Cale Lane, a colleague they all once trusted. And even worse, his sister is now involved. Veronica Lane is determined to find her brother and her last option is to hire someone who knows him. She doesn’t know that Jasper is already on the case to find him and most definitely not the reason. This totally puts Jasper in a “conflict of interest” situation but this will give him full access of what she knows including Cale’s files and possible contact with Cale. But right off the bat, you know there’s more to it than that.

I was actually a bit worried that this “conflict of interest” will take a toll on their relationship but Veronica was a big girl and took it better then I thought. I really liked Veronica in that aspect. She knows what she wants, trusts her instincts and she is loyal to the bone. Jasper is the same. Boy, he knew exactly what he wanted and was not afraid to get it. I have to admit there was some hesitation on both ends but it was done well and it was definitely realistic reactions to any relationships.

The conflict of the story is not so much on the romance though but more on the suspense element. Oh yeah, it was a nail biting suspense that led me to believe one thing and surprised me with a betrayal I least expected. Ms. Eden really did keep me guessing.

I have come to expect great reads from Ms. Eden, she has yet to disappoint me. But I will admit that I’m beginning to think her Romantic Suspense is soaring more than the PNR I love so much.

Cynthia Eden definitely knows how to write suspense romance. Guardian Ranger is book 2 in the Shadow Agents series. And it just gets better and better. Loved the characters of Jasper and Veronica. Of course, Jasper is your typical Alpha male with lots of secrets who is hired by Veronica to find her brother Cale who’s gone missing. As the book progresses Veronica who’s been sheltered and protected her whole life from Cale hires Jasper to find him. Veronica goes from being delicate and timid to fierce and strong. She’s very loyal to her brother and works hard to find Cale and help him. Unbeknownst to her, Jasper and his team EOD are already searching for him, but for different reasons. Veronica comes to find out that both Jasper and Cale have been keeping secrets that place her in harms way and in the middle of EOD’s investigation. It’s a race to find Cale, and find who the real killer is.

This book had so many twists and turns, lots of action and suspense and mystery. And of course, Cynthia Eden mixes this all with a beautiful romance. This was such a page turner and a mystery to the end.

Guardian Ranger by Cynthia Eden is the second book in the “Shadow Agents” series and it is a page turning adventure story with romance, suspense, mystery and lots of action. “Someone is killing EOD agents” – and the story is off and running. The romance of the characters Jasper and Veronica was a wonderful and touching read, the storyline’s suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the mystery has you guessing –“who done it” – right up to the end, plus the action is non- stop, oh, an additional bonus - we get to see the other members of the EOD team again, as they work together to look for our mystery killer. This series is getting better and better, I am looking forward to Book 3.

I tanked my way through this book because it just sucks you in at the beginning and you just want more and more if it! Jasper is such a sweetheart but he's more of a Beta male compared to Logan. Again I won't spoil the book but I will say this......Guardian Ranger is just amazing! You'll keep second guessing who the killer is and you'll wonder if Jasper will ever get that happy ending! Oh yeah Syd ans Gunner???? WTF? Bring on book 3!!! :-)

Lot of twists and turns

Hunting a killer, that is what the EOD does. Someone is killing their own. They will find him even if the evidence points to someone they know. Jasper can get the job done even though he has a soft spot for Veronica. There is truth, lies, and evidence to back up who is responsible, but is it correct? Great twists and turns in this book. If you like romance and action, you'll love this book. 🎉📚❤️🌻

bagus banget. 5 bintang deh!
