• A Life Restored — She chased adventure until the desert stripped away her illusions. He carried shame no distance could erase. When survival demands brutal honesty, redemption proves anything but gentle.

Faith, hope, and love come alive in the rugged beauty of Arizona.

As a member of Faith Hope & Love Christian Writers and author of over 30 Christian contemporary cowboy romances and historical romances, I write faith-laced stories where characters feel like lifelong friends. My novels follow flawed individuals who need second chances, redemption, or the courage to overcome personal trials—all set against the backdrop of real Arizona history and the landscapes I treasure.

My husband, Jim, and I live in Gilbert, Arizona with our two dogs, Bella and Daisy. We love exploring our beautiful state together, discovering new adventures that often find their way into my stories. We're also involved at Rock Point Church in Queen Creek.

Thank you for joining me on these journeys through the Arizona I love.

Historical Western

Prescott Pioneers: The Complete Series by Karen Baney. Wow! There's so much in this series love, drama, suspense and mystery. I was hooked from the beginning. I loved the characters! The story begins sweet and in parts of the trek to the west I felt the pain and cried along with them. I recommend this series with a warning. You won't want to put it down.

A wonderful series that lets us experience the hardships and adventures as well as the romance that fills the pages of each book. A Talented author who makes the stories come to life. I read this series several years ago and loved all 4 books. I even read them again.

This is the complete series in one of this interconnected story following the lives of one family. It is best if read in order and some of the characters overlap with other books. Each book could be read as a standalone though.
Be ready to experience multiple extreme emotions.

I loved this series. Moving a ranch from Texas to Arizona in the 1860’s was no small feat! These stories reveal God’s goodness and protection. I recommend to anyone who likes historical romance

This book is four books in one. It is the story of the Colter and Anderson families in the 1860's as they help settle Prescott, Arizona. I felt like the historical aspect of the book was accurate and interesting.

The fictional characters were, for the most part, complex and realistic - some more so than others. They were characters that I became interested in and wanted to follow to conclusion.

There was also a lot of action in the stories. Sometimes, it was a little contrived and some of the story lines were somewhat repetative, but for the most part the action was exciting and kept my interest. Some of the conflicts are depressing and difficult to face, but that is what drives a good story.

Having said that, there were a couple of things I did not like. For one thing, the grammatical errors were extensive. Even allowing for transcription errors, there were far to many misused words, etc. A good editor was definitely needed.

The love stories (after all, this really is a romance book) seemed to repeat with each new set of characters, with perhaps slightly different conflicts, but not that different. I find it irritating when "love" is suddenly perfect when everyone comes to accept God. I am a Christian and believe that having God at the center of a marriage is vital, but I just found these books were a bit preachy and unbelievable in this area.

Because the books are available separately, there was of necssity quite a lot of retelling of the story line in each follow-up book. That was a little boring when the books were read one after the other, but I understand why it had to be. I found I just skimmed a lot of that repeat stuff.

I would recommend the book if the reader likes a good romance that is not graphic. There are a lot of villanous characters in the book, so it is not squeaky clean, but it is not really offensive. I enjoyed reading the entire series.

I received a copy of the book in exchange for doing a review.

This volume includes four books in one: A Dream Unfolding, A Heart Renewed, A Life Restored and A Hope Revealed. Each book is also available separately. This is one series where the subsequent books each build on the earlier stories, so it is best read in order.

Conflict is the essence of good fiction, and this series has conflict in large doses. Unfortunately, the doses are just too large, and become larger than life to the point of melodrama, especially in the final book. The stories were much darker than most Christian fiction, and I really didn't enjoy that aspect, as I felt it unnecessary. If I wanted to read about greed and the depravity of human nature, I’d be reading non-fiction.

I also found the rape scenes unnecessarily detailed (yes, scenes, not just scene). There were plenty of hints of ‘marital intimacy’ throughout this collection, but they were just hints of activity occurring behind closed doors, as is normal for Christian fiction. So why detail the rape scenes? Yes, I know this is fiction. Yes, I know there are rape and abuse scenes in the Bible. Yes, I know bad things happen to good people. But am I the only person who finds it distasteful that the only time there is graphic sex in a Christian novel is when it’s a rape scene?

On the positive side, the series is impeccably researched, and the author has managed to include a lot of historical detail without it seeming like an 'information dump'. All the stories have a strong Christian message of hope and forgiveness, and manage to portray this without descending into preachiness.

Novel length parables of forgiveness and grace

This is a collection of 4 Christian Western Romance novels. The saga starts in Ohio with one couple who heads West in a wagon train after being ostracized by their community. They make friends on the ride west that continue through the books. Other characters head West as cattle ranchers from Texas is search of better pasture and a new life. They all end up in Prescott, Arizona Territory.

These are clean stories with a strong emphasis on Old-fashioned Christian values and beliefs. The preaching was a little heavy handed at times, but I liked the cast of characters very much. Would make for a good summer church ladies book club, romances with a message. Book club questions included.

Read Hidden Prospects to complete the saga.

If you are looking for a deep, soul-searching series, this is not it. It is a nice, enjoyable, easy read. I read all four books within a couple of weeks. It felt a bit more like one longer story with several sub-plots along the way. Perhaps because I read it too quickly, but there were a few times toward the end that I had to stop and remind myself who some characters were. I always enjoy when a Kindle book contains notes on the characters and this one did not. That would have been an added bonus. :-).

Will and Hannah the main characters in this series

Kept everything going adding more and more character's into the mix. Just about time I thought I had it all figured out, it took another turn. You will love this series!

So, it saddens me greatly when an author takes a perfectly good plot, great characters, good writing and then feels the need to throw in explicit sex scenes that really do nothing to support the story line.

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did, I finished it off in a few days. It's a good depiction of how corrupted some people can be, but also has a strong message of hope and love.
