Terror strikes a government building when it suddenly becomes the target of an unthinkable attack. Zombies attack seemingly out of nowhere and the witnesses are ordered to leave at gunpoint. When Eric Bayne does as ordered, only to find that the zombie attack wasn’t a onetime occurrence, he is forced to face a terrible truth. The zombie apocalypse has truly come to pass.
Knowing that life will never be normal again, everyone has to make the choice to survive or give up.
Eric Bayne chooses to fight and survive at all costs. His journey to battle the odds takes him down a darker road than he ever imagined. Can he fight the inevitable and win or will he end up just another mindless creature?
Daniel White lives in Boston, MA with his girlfriend and their two beagles. When he's not writing, he loves long distance running, weight lifting, video games, and biohacking.
Readable, but not gripping and I found that I really couldn't care less if the main character died or not. Characters are not likeable and you don't really have an investment in this book to find out what happens next, tbh I only finished it as I am suffering with insomnia.
This reads like a videogame plays. Mary Sue character Eric Bayne, office worker and 'master of several martial arts', stumbles around finding equipment, weapons and food without even trying, in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. It's definitely not in my top ten zombie related books. Perhaps it gets better in the rest of the series...
The first problem I had was with the cover. How many times do I need to see that image? It has been used on multiple covers, but I decided to keep my mind open. The editing issues early on made that rough.
Once the main character is introduced, we find ourselves following a guy who is an executive, handyman, gymnast, and mixed-martial artist. It just seemed that he spawned abilities as the story went along. I spoke with a friend of my who runs a gymnastics academy when the main character did a running flip over the heads and outstretched hands of a zombie mob, landed on his feet and continued his fight. Nope.
My own personal moment of groaning came when he went down under a mob and came out unharmed. Then there was his antagonistic stand against the soldiers while in quarantine...and they didn't shoot him?
I just didn't get into the book. Maybe others will, but for me, the series stopped here.
I just never really got into the story. Although it's short, I put it down a number of times due to lack of interest, only to pick it up again a day or so later. I have no plans to continue on to a second book in the series.
There are only a few people and a dog, but sometimes the government has a new chemical weapons who turns in zombies. Who is going to survive this Mr. Bayne, Sam or Bart?
