Atsushi Arisawa enrolls at Jougaouka High School to be near Masami Shibata (Ma-chan) who was his childhood crush. Unbeknownst to Atsushi, however, Masami no longer works at the school and his brother, Masayoshi is now the nurse. Atsushi mistakes Masayoshi for Masami and is horrified because to him, it appears that Masami's personality has done a complete 180. Add to the fact that Atsushi's friend, Kouji Inagaki is totally in love and constantly trying to make-out with him, Atsushi's life at Jougaoka is hell until he starts thinking that maybe the new Ma-chan isn't so bad after all and that, maybe he actually likes the way Ma-chan is now. Until of course, he finds out that Masayoshi isn't Masami.

Kodaka-sensei made her debut in 1989 with Sessa Takuma! in Shounen Champion. Today she is one of the most popular Boys' Love authors. She is famous for her work on designing the characters for Triple X's BL anime Boku no Sekuhara (My Sexual Harassment) and is also the beloved author of Kizuna.
Matoh Sanami taught her how to draw using a shoujo-style. Sanami Matoh and Kazuma Kodaka are actually very good friends.
Her doujinshi circle is called K2 Company.

As someone who isn't that fond of student/teacher relationships I was a bit wary of this, but I read it because it was by Kazuma Kodaka. And am I ever glad I did!
The five stars are for the series as a whole - like Kizuna, I found the first volume a bit shaky and confusing, but it really does get really good real soon, so by all means, keep reading.
What I love about Kodaka-sensei's writing is that it's a perfect mix of humour, angst, romance and real, everyday life - yes, there are some really wacky situations, but they never drift off like they do in books like Gravitation, because overall everything feels really - grounded, I guess would be the best word. As crazy as the characters may act sometimes, you can tell their feelings are real, and their actions and motivations do make sense (and if they don't it's because they're human).
It also deals really seriously with topics like sexuality and sex - or rather - she manages to work in a lot of humour, but it's obvious she treats the topics themselves seriously.
Another great thing about this series is that we can really watch these characters grow up - in all senses of the word. I also love that - and this is a more or less mild spoiler - the student and the teacher don't consumate their relationship until they aren't student and teacher anymore.
There's just so much I love about this. It made me cry at some point, and really, I don't cry easily when it comes to books. It just really moved me, and it made me laugh, and I came to care for these characters like for a group of friends, and really, there aren't too many writers who can manage that. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

You could call it "The Comedy of Errors" what with the way Atsushi mistakes Masayoshi for Masami and then the things just get going. Atsushi and Masami are a bit too uke-ish for my liking, especially Atsushi who's a real crybaby, but overall, I really like the manga. It's funny, but there's a real story there. And the art is beautiful and very distinct, if slightly inconsistent. I'm definitely interested in reading volume 2.

I know Kazuma Kodaka is capable of great comedic timing but this first volume isn't even funny, it's just incoherent. Is it possible to have TOO MANY tropes? Apparently so! We've got the childhood vow (not once but twice: Arisawa trying to attend Maa-chan's school and Inagaki immediately doubling down on asking Arisawa to marry him), the brother complex, the relentless pursuit of a constantly protesting love interest, the fake girlfriend who's actually a yaoi fangirl, the host club staffed by transvestites, the quarter-European-but-in-defiance-of-recessive-genes-we're-blond family, the teacher who goes around creepily hitting on his students... I don't know, maybe if I were in a different mood this would be more entertaining but I think it's a mess. The art style is very distinctive, and actually quite evocative in a cartoon-y way, but it does definitely look dated.

I decided to give this 4 stars because I enjoyed myself so much. This is the gayest of gay trash, full of cheesy 90's manga romance cliche, including the main love interest lking like Charlie Sheen in that musketeers adaption, hair-wise.
I could not give it 5 stars tho, due to the problematic elements that p much all of the yaoi/shounen-ai contain that nevertheless have to be adressed until even the last straight fans of these novels understand it. You can enjoy a thing and be critical! So here are the things I could point out in this manga.
- constant use of homophobic slurs
- 'misgendering', i.e. refering to one of the (more passive) male gay characters as a girl, even if it is just a joke. Which is just one of the ways in which the stupid heterosexual gender roles get forced on queer couples. Boo.
- all the nonconsentual kissing. Because sexual harassment isn't romanticised enough!
- the gross fetishizing of queer characters, seen here as people constantly trying to watch the gay dudes kiss/trying to take pictures of it
- gross fetishizing of incest
There's also the question if it might be possibly transphobic, since it is up to debate whether or not the employees of the Club Lush/Club Rush are really just cross dressing or if the author intended them to be trans, but is utterly misinformed ad gross about the deal by defining them by their 'biological sex'. In fact, describing the one character which is definitely a post-transition trans woman as 'formerly male' hints that this is secretly hella transphobic.

Die Geschichte um den Schüler Atsushi ist eigentlich recht interessant für einen Manga. Er entscheidet sich auf eine Schule mit ziemlich zweifelhaften Ruhm zu gehen, nur weil er gehört hat sein ehemaliger Nachbar und heimlicher Schwarm arbeite dort als Schulsanitäter. Das Problem, dass Atsushi eher schmächtig ist und so gar nicht zu den Rüpeln auf seiner neuen Schule passt. seine Enttäuschung ist groß als der Sanitäter seinem Schwarm von vor ein paar Jahren so gar nicht mehr ähnelt. Was nun? Soll er die Schule weiter besuchen, sich doch nochmal ein näheres Bild von seinem ehemaligen Nachbarn machen?
Der Humor ist stellenweise extrem albern, aber trotzdem habe ich mich amüsiert. Allerdings benehmen sich die Lehrer hier genauso albern wie die Schüler. Sexuelle Anspielungen und Ähnliches werden sogar von ihnen geäußert. Als Ernst darf man das natürlich nicht nehmen.
Die Charaktere sehen sich alle sehr ähnlich und ich konnte stellenweise nicht sagen, wer hier gerade spricht. Das nervte etwas aber das Problem habe ich oft bei Mangas.
Also ein Highlight war es nicht für mich, aber ich werde dem zweiten Band der Reihe auf jeden Fall noch eine Chance geben.
