As generic of a Sci-Fi book as I can think of. Mostly political stuff and vague mentions of random convenient technology. Good enough to read through but not great by any measure. 2.5 stars, but I rounded down because of how many made-up words there are, it's confusing to figure out what she's talking about when a dozen new names for things appear on a single page.

Also, it has sentences like this: "Duty had brought him back to duties he knew nothing about."

Also also, it seemed very much like it was trying very hard to be Dune.

(My mother got this for me as a gift because it was $1 at K-Mart. I recalled it because I came across a book with the same title by an author named A.G. Riddle and wondered if it was a new edition, but no, it’s by a different author.)

I was maybe 12-14 when I read it, so I don’t remember much besides the cover. I did read the whole thing, so it must have been at least good enough to finish. Sorry I can’t say more.
