I have a confession to make . . . I am a grammar book addict. I think, in part, that if I have enough of these little gems on my shelf that somehow, by osmosis, I will become wise and wonderful. I’d have to say that 98 percent of these are set up all the same. There are two that are different from any that I’ve seen. This is one of the two.

It is colorful, engaging, and visual. These are the first adjectives that come to mind when opening this book. The author uses every concept of learning to grab your attention. The very first message is--Relax. He continues, “Do you feel relaxed enough to read? If not, please close the book and relax a while!” From this point on . . . hang on to your hats because this isn’t your grandmother’s grammar book!

Traditional grammar books tell you the rules, give a few examples, and let you wing it the rest of the way. In this method of teaching, most people are asleep by middle of chapter one. That has been my problem. I’ve been trying to learn this stuff for twenty years! It’s about as exciting as watching grass grow; I never manage to get past the eight parts of speech before giving up.

Boone’s method of teaching is anything but boring. For example, in the first chapter — nouns, he explains what a noun is, then explains the two categories, and the four subcategories for common nouns. We learn why it is important to know this classification. Classification shows us when to use articles, different verb forms, and adjectives. Nouns change form in different sentences. Nouns change meaning when singular or plural. Nouns can show possession. Actually, this first chapter covers most everything you could think of about how nouns function in our language. The information is presented in a fun and colorful way.

I’ve had other things to do and will be busy for a bit longer, but when I can get back to studying, this will be my first “go-to” book. I love it.

I’d like to thank the author and Review the Book.com for this opportunity to review the book.

English for the Eager Learners is a comprehensive, well written, and very nicely illustrated guide to mastering one of the most confounding languages on the planet. Water can run. So can people. So can people's noses. Then what about stockings? They can "get a run" in them. Tears happen when we cry, but tears happen when an article of clothing is ripped in many places. But then there's tares, which sounds like tears but tares are the weights of vehicles without cargo. Then their are tiers which sound like tears but describe different levels of a structure or even multi-leveled plans.

Confused? I nearly frustrated myself trying to type all that. Imagine what it is like for someone trying to learn English as a second language.

Ira P. Boone lays it all out in 25 lessons that are broad in content with out ever becoming discursive.

The illustrations are amusing yet always help with the subject. Each chapter comes with practice exercises to help reinforce what was learned.

This book would come in handy to school teachers, home educators, and would also be helpful to anyone looking to improve their English skills.

I found this workbook to be very colorful and well laid out in terms of visual processing for the remedial learner. It's difficult for some students to navigate learning English concepts, and these visual cues make all the difference in the world. Her method of teaching will actually help students learn whereas many books fall flat and fail to meet the desired goal.

This book hits the nail on the head in every single category. Not only does the author explain in a way that everyone can identify with, but also meets the learner on their level in order to teach up. It's a rare skill in both teachers and in teaching books.

What can you expect to find inside this book? Expect a lot of color and design, a well laid out teaching plan, and plenty of guidance along the way. She takes difficult concepts and makes them easy to understand, and that's hard to do. I can't recommend it highly enough and even bought an extra copy for my nephew.

I received this book as an e-book edition. I am an English and Developmental Reading teacher. I thought that this book was comprehensive and would be an ideal study guide for a student or anyone struggling with the rules of English. The graphics and examples are great. The book is easy to follow and is well written. My only regret is that it is an e-book and not a hard copy book as students often need to write on their worksheets as they study. The book is well written and I would recommend the book as a study guide or to use in class for a teacher looking for additional resources.

I received this book as a GoodReads giveaway. As majoring in Legal Translation, this book comes in hand, especially when you have little doubts within Grammar. So for me, this one was a win-win.
