One Omega artist with crippling anxiety. One Alpha cowboy with a devastating need for control. A plague that threatens their sanity, their sense of self, and their freedom.
The only cure? Find your mate. Fast.
June I loathe the city. I despise crowds. But most of all, I hate the anxiety that’s ruling and ruining my life.
Aura sickness. A devastating disease with a ticking clock that twists you into the worst version of yourself. The longer I remain unmated, the worse it gets. But how do I find my Alpha when dating in this loud, bustling city sets my flight instincts into overdrive?
Driven by desperation, I reply to a mysterious ad in the last pages of the paper:
Remote outback town seeks eligible Omega brides for local Alpha cowboys. Apply to Ida Parson for more information.
Now I’m on a midnight bus to the middle of nowhere. It might be my last hope.
Or it might be a terrible mistake.
Ben I like self-discipline. I love order. But most of all, I thrive on control. My volatile aura has taken that from me.
I’m one violent outburst away from doing something I’ll regret forever. I’ve lost the respect of my workers, my friends, and even myself. Without a mate to soothe my aggressive aura, I’m destined to go insane.
But in the wild Australian desert, you won’t find an unmated Omega for hundreds of kilometres.
Until I see this little stranger. Shivering on a bus stop bench in spite of the scorching midday sun.
She’s lost. She’s terrified. She’s mine.
Welcome to the Australian outback. It’s burning hot during the day, freezing cold at night, and home to some rough-and-ready Alpha cowboys looking for their Omega mates. Get ready for some short, sweet, and steamy Omegaverse with a down-under twist.
Outback Claim is the first book in the Aussie Alphas series and can be read as a standalone. No cheating, no cliffhanger, and a guaranteed HEA.
Bridget Blake is an Australian living in the United Kingdom who devours smutty stories like it’s her job. If she can’t find what she wants to read, she writes it herself. The filthier, the better.
Her love of romance began with reading fan fiction on her family’s dial-up computer under the cloak of midnight, and her love for paranormal romance grew from there. Growly Alphas and sassy Omegas are what currently get her going.
When she isn’t writing something dirty, she enjoys gaming with her husband and cuddling their geriatric cat. She’s lived in coastal surfing villages, outback Australian mining towns, central London, and now the British countryside.
Her experiences shape her stories and she believes reading should be a delightful escape with happy endings. I’m an independent author and open to suggestions.

3.5 stars I liked June’s social anxiety and panic disorder representation and how it impacted her life. Ben had a different host of problems, namely his anger and control issues, but they balanced each other well. I wish we got to know both of them better.
Spice: 3/5
Triggers: panic attacks, violence, blood, loneliness, mention of parent death, misogyny (not from MMC)
TW - anxiety (specifically social anxiety), panic attacks, sickness (long term and common for those unmated), self harm (FMC compulsively picks at her cuticles and chews on her lip), disassociating, death of a grandparent (mentioned), death of a parent (mentioned), physical violence (incl blood)
CW - public play, power dynamics, hand necklaces, orgasm denial
Tropes - slowish burn, novella, omegaverse, small town
Clearly in my omegaverse era. This was fun and light hearted - can't wait to read the others in this world
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
🫑 - no smut 🌶 - no point 🌶🌶 - mediocre at best 🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot 🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek/ The Naughty List
This novella is book 1 in Bridget Blake’s Aussie Alphas series.
I enjoyed the dynamic between June and Ben. She’s a shy omega with sometimes crippling anxiety and he’s a controlling alpha on the verge of being consumed by aura sickness. This has mail order bride vibes but much, much sexier. June is adorable, even when afraid and Ben manages to be sweet while growly.
I know this is a novella and fated mates, but I would have liked a bit more of them getting to know each other beyond just designations and scent. That said, I enjoyed the Australian Outback setting, their HFN, and the sexy little epilogue.
I thought this was a charming, enjoyable OV romance that had a special edge with the heroine's anxiety. June can't cope with too much in the way of crowds and pressure, which gets really interesting when you're an omega dealing with alphas (who are all about crowding and pressuring). Seeing how the Outback worked for her as a potential home, and how Ben worked to accommodate her needs, made for a comforting read.
This isn't a complex book, but not every romance needs to be. If you're looking for a lighter omegaverse romance that doesn't skimp on the fiery aspects, give Outback Claim a chance!
I will always be in the mood for a book set in the Australian Outback even though I would have to lock myself in an ice box to survive the heat. Add in a little omegaverse and some knotting and I was in.
This was short, sweet, and two the point. However! It did do something super cool that I haven’t read before: the further you go without your mate, the deeper you slip into “aura sickness” which brings out your worst trait and makes it even worse. So the MMC’s is anger and the FMC’s is social anxiety. And that probably sounds like a terrible dynamic but he is SO sweet with her! Like absolutely adorbs and dedicated from the moment they meet.
I just wish there had been a little less emphasis on how shy and small and awkward the FMC was because at a certain point I felt like she was being infantilized a bit and I didn’t love it. I am interesting in the second book because he’s a reckless rodeo cowboy and that’s my Jimmy jam!
2.5⭐️ uhm. It's not what I expected 🤷♀️ Overall the writing was good just not really for me but at least now I know. I think you'd enjoy this if you love insta love and when I say insta I meaaannn it. There was barely any depth to the characters at all. They met and then boom done deal. I think i would have really enjoyed it had i learnt more about the characters because they did have potential.
Short and sweet with some nice spice. I really like the unique take on omegaverse with aura sickness. Also this book was so incredibly Australian I even read it with in accent in my mind 😂 I’d def read more in this series!
Australian cowboys and make it omegaverse? Say less and I'm here. This was a short and spicy story of a painfully shy and anxious heroine who, on a whim, answers an add in Omega Weekly and finds herself on a bus on the way to the middle of nowhere in the hopes of meeting her Alpha. When at her destination she runs into the "Tyrant" Ben. Scent match, boom, bang.
Even if this story was short, it had an interesting twist on the Omegaverse-world. It introduces the idea of "Aura sickness" - a sickness that makes unmated alphas and omegas go feral, slowly but surely. It was a nice touch and made this otherwise fairly run of the mill OV stand out.
I loved the Australian slang that was strewn around! It added an interesting flair and character.
This was my first OV by this author and I'm definitely intrigued about the world and I most certainly have a hankering for more aussie cowboy alphas. 🤠 this was an uncomplicated, fun, easy and spicy read!
I was kindly given an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
Plot: June is on the verge of aura sickness and her anxiety has become crippling. She knows she needs to find an alpha, and she's been trying, but it isn't easy. Finally, she answers an ad for omegas to go to a small town in the Outback, and when she gets there, she might just have met her destiny.
Commentary: I just "awwww"ed my way through this book! It was super sweet - still steamy - and satisfying. They were, of course, exactly what the other person needed. I'd like to know more about this omegaverse world and will definitely be reading more in the series.
God, the cringes I cringed! 😖 I'm always shocked at how looooooomg a short book that is bad can feel. Once again, I didn't give a star rating because I don't think I can fairly rate this, to me it's a 1 star, but I feel like if you're a person who reads a lot of fluffy omegaverse books, it might scratch that itch, idk because that isn't me. What I can tell you is that just about every character in the book annoyed the eyeballs out of me. The "matchmaker" lady was just the absolute worst. She was like a super bossy omega....that's not an omega trait for one thing, for another thing she was absolutely terrible at her job! The main couple got together, DESPITE her interference, not because of it. The heroine wasn't much better. She was apparently debilitating shy because of this aura sickness thing, to the point she's afraid of getting locked up on one of these aura sickness facilities and yet, she's still over there nitpicking and dragging her feet which I get some people relate to, but was painfully tedious for me. She's all "I believe in scent matches!" then meets her scent match and is all "I need time to make sure...what if I don't like the way he chews? I need to make a rational decision" What???? Trying to force modern contemporary standards onto an omegaverse world where they are endangered by NOT mating each other is completely contradictory! Also, I loved how due to Aura sickness, every excuse in the world is made for her insane shyness and fear, yet the same exact sickness on an Alpha is somehow his fault! Ugh, I've not tried an omegaverse in a while and I thought I missed them, but I realized this is why I don't. There are no middle ground Omegaverse books, I swear.
Genre: Adult Omegaverse Spice: 2/5🌶️ *spice ratings are relative to similar books in the same genre* (2/5 means that this books has less than average spice for the genre)
The Catalog: FM omegaverse, wallflower FMC, town grump MMC, funny meet cute, scent-match mates, first knot, newspaper ad requesting omegas, world where alphas and omegas are experiencing psychological illness due to lack of mates, Australian outback setting, dry humping, slight soft dom vibes
Synopsis: June has always been a little shy, but the longer she goes without an alpha mate, the worse her shyness and omega-prey instinct gets. Now, worried that she’ll fall completely into aura-sickness, she answers an ad a magazine requesting unmated omegas to come to the Outback for a change to find their mates.
Thoughts: I really loved the newspaper ad trope as well as the way the FMC, June was written. I think her struggles with anxiety and mental health were written well and melded really nicely with omegaverse dynamics.
Ben, the alpha, was the quintessential outback hottie and I found his own struggles with the “aura-sickness” to be really interesting.
The reason this doesn’t get a higher rating is mainly because I didn’t feel as much chemistry between the characters (outside of their ordained attraction) as I would have liked. It felt a little rushed and I would have like more backstory about Ben.
All in all, it was a fun, quick read with new omegaverse elements I haven’t read before. I might pick up another in this series at a future date.
This is the most Australian romance book I've read. The accents, the slang / sayings, the scenery, the animal references... even books I've read by Australian authors don't make it so obvious (though, this does take place in the outback, and it's a whole different world, there!)
In this Omegaverse world, if Omegas and Alphas don't find their mate by a certain point, they'll get aura sickness. They essentially lose control and need to be locked up. Desperate, a place in the middle of nowhere full of unmated Alphas put an ad in an Omega magazine looking for Omegas to come out and meet them.
June, an Omega who's horribly suffering from anxiety, which is getting worse from aura sickness, sees the ad and decides to give it a go. She panics at the loud noises and the chaos of the city, and this sounds like it could be just the thing. When she arrives, she decides she's made a horrible mistake and goes back to wait for the bus back home. That's where she meets an unexpected man, an Alpha, who she suddenly reacts very strongly to.
This book is practically insta-love and has the FMC slightly pushing to get out of her comfort zone and overcoming her fears. The MC, Ben, is a hard demanding man to all but his new, sweet Omega. It's heartwarming and a perfect palette cleanser if you need one!
I'll be reading the rest of the books in this series!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. June Garraway was an Omega in need of an Alpha. She wanted her Alpha and was having a hard time finding one in the city. Despite extreme social anxiety, she utilized a dating agency in hopes of staving off the aura sickness that tends to afflict unmated Alphas and Omegas. After yet another disastrous date, June finds an ad requesting Omegas come to the small town of Bodella to meet the Alphas there. Once in Bodella, June finds an older Omega, Ida Parson. Ida has declared herself the town’s matchmaker and plans to have the Omegas that come to the town stay with her while meeting with Alphas to find a mate.
Benjamin Cunningham is in the throws of aura sickness. The town has taken to giving him a wide berth. While in town, he notices an Omega. His Omega. The connection was instant. Can Ben be the gentle Alpha that June needs him to be? Can June be the assertive Omega that Ben needs her to be? This small town has a lot of ranch hands that readers will be interested in hearing more about.
This story is very short and steamy. It is very concise but tells the story thoroughly and completely. I enjoyed June and Ben’s story and cannot wait to hear how Ida brings other Omegas to the unmated Alphas in the town.
If you are looking for something quick in under an hour or so but be aware once you start you won’t stop until the last page has been turned. June is a sweet omega with anxiety issues do not like being in social situations so meeting her alpha is a challenge but that is where dating apps come into play, she is wanting to avoid the sickness that affect unmated omegas. She is tired of dating jerks through the app finding an ad wanting omegas to come to the small town to meet alphas. Deciding to head to the small town meeting up with a much older omega who is the town’s matchmaker the unmated omegas will stay with her where she will introduce them to alphas. Benjamin sexy all get out alpha trying his best to fight the sickness keeping to himself because he isn’t very nice needing his mate and while in town one evening an omega captures his attention and not just any omega but his omega feeling it instantly but with her anxiety issues, his sickness can he be the gentle alpha she needs, will she be willing to take a chance on him a sick alpha, and is there happiness somewhere along the way for the two of them?
I have severe anxiety and while June's may seem severe to some, to me that's just how life is. Flight flight freeze or fawn, only options, no *normal interactions* just anxiety. When you meet the one person who settles that inside of you it's impossible not to fall in love with them. Not everyone is going to find this in a romantic sense like June has, but it's Important to state that when your calm person enters your life, you're allowed to love them however is best for the two of you. Platonically, familially, or romantically.
I hope Murphy's story is just as good, but because of how he was introduced I'm biased against him tbh. The Gallah shouldn't have been so forceful. If someone runs away from you, maybe take that as a sign. Idk. I don't like him, so I'll read his story and hope he gets better lol
June and Ben are a lovely couple. I hope to read Ida and Alfreds story one day too (it might already be in the previous books, this is my first by this author).
The story was quick and ended well. If recommend it to anyone who needs a fast romance hit. No slow burn here. 🥰🥰🥰
Short, sweet and spicy, Outback Claim is my first read from this author. I was intrigued by the blurb and wasn't disappointed.
With Omega’s and Alpha's being affected by aura sickness, aspects of their nature are becoming more intense. Unless they can find a suitable partner, they may end up in a secure environment, where they can't harm others or themselves.
June is generally anxious by nature and city living is becoming too much for her, her health and art are suffering. Seeing an advert for an outback town looking for Omega’s, June doesn't think, she just gets on a bus.
Ben is authorative by nature and the sickness is enhancing this into anger and aggression, until he spots June at the bus stop of his local town, when her scent hits him he knows she is his.
What follows is adorable, they know they belong together but are afraid their nature's are too different to be compatible. A few obstacles and smexy times later and they get their HEA.
Great short read, I'll definitely be reading the others in the series.
Alpha cowboy Ben and Omega June have a similar problem that needs to be fixed soon. Both of them need to find their mate to bring back stability for them. June’s current issue is severe anxiety. She is desperate and answers an ad looking for Omega brides for local Alpha cowboys in a remote location. So she gets on the bus and hopes this will be the answer to her problem.
Ben’s issue as an Alpha, unlike June’s, is that he needs to find his mate to bring his dominant nature back under control. His coworkers are in danger of his uncontrollable violent temper. He needs the restraint he will find through the calming effect of an Omega. So when he sees a shivering female on a bench, will he recognize that even her presence is having an effect on him? They each need what the other can provide. Will the two of them find that comfort in each other?
June is dealing with crippling social anxiety due to advanced Omega status. When she sees an ad for Omegas to come out to the Outback to meet their Alphas, she surprises herself by heading straight away. Ben needs an Omega, he’s an Alpha on the edge. When they meet at the bus stop, their mutual scents attract each other, but will June be able to be brave enough to reach out for what she needs? I loved this spin on omegaverse, with Outback cowboys, unique locations and the quirky characters. June was so brave in living with her anxiety and making things work for her. My first read by Ms. Blake, but not my last!
I love how Ben and June’s story progresses (it is a bit short) very detailed about aura sickness and how it effects them both, and how their relationship helps to lessen the toll it takes on them. Their could have been a little more back story, but it being a novella it was the proper length with enough steamy parts to keep you engaged.
Would definitely read this author again. Hopefully next book there will be the same level of detail but in different areas of the book not just describing the aura sickness, more in developing the characters relationship in other ways ( only reason I gave this book a 4 and not a 5). Great Read!
So, I liked the premise behind this book, it wasn't great, it wasn't bad. I think if it was longer it would have explored more and been better, but as it was the characters fell a little flat. It is slow burn, which is fine, the world building was decent. This does take place in austrailia, as indicated by the title, so some of the issues may have been regional, a lot of the dialect was strange to me. Which is fine, totally, but just something to make note of. I didn't hate it, but I doubt I will be adding it to my collection.
This was such a cute read. I loved seeing a FMC with a life debilitating disorder (social anxiety) and her coping while still existing.
The spicy doesn't happen until the last 3 chapters but since it's a short novella it's not long before you get there. Everything fits and flows so well. This will definitely be a go-to for my when I want a short and steamy cute omegaverse!
This was a quick, sweet and spicy omegaverse read. June is an anxious little ball in a city where she doesn’t belong. Making an impulsive decision puts her right in Ben’s path. While this was a novella, there is still wonderful world build and the characters are engaging and likeable. The relationship develops naturally and is really great to read. I will definitely be on the look-out for more from this author
This has a cute premise and all that, as well as some honestly amazing potential, but there’s not enough spice for what I thought it would be.
Also, I can absolutely understand the FL’s anxiety but I would have loved to see her become just a little bit more comfortable and confident with the ML after finding her safe space in him and getting her claiming bite.
Overall, this was pretty mid. Cute at first but just not enough.
June has major anxiety/insecurities. Ben is an alpha with alpha sickness. She answers an add for omegas placed by an older woman to meet alphas in the outback.
This is a very quick and cute read. The older woman (can't remember her name at the moment) is too funny to put an add out!
This is the first in the series and although it's a standalone, it's best to do in order since characters pop up later.
Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Ben and June Genre- Omegaverse Romance Heat- oh my! There’s knotting. Series? Y Safety? Y Triggers- crippling shyness, violence Tropes- Fated Mates (scent match), Instalove, Mail-Order Bride Mewsings I found this compulsively readable. It’s an Omegaverse M/F and I was absolutely enthralled. I thought that the aura sickness concept was interesting. This is only the third Omegaverse book I’ve read, but I’m hooked.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s a quick instalove read. It has a good story. I could really relate to June’s anxiety and how it impacts her life. I loved Ben and his protective streak. I look forward to more in the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a very cute short story. I can’t wait to read more in this series. I enjoyed getting as much of a detailed backstory as we got for how short the story was. A great amount of spice, and the quality of the spice was fantastic! I love that the characters completely balance each other out! Opposites do totally attract!
