Though I knew that Russia and China developed a rivalry in the midst of the Cold War, I'd never known why. Now, though, I see how it was China challenging Russia's ideological hegemony regarding the implementation and expansion of communism. On the same lines, I know more about Tito in Yugoslavia and his opposition to Stalin, Poland's assertion of its own flavour of communism, and the refusal of Albania, Hungary, and even Czechoslovakia to adhere to Russia's rules.
