In each of the major ecosystems explored in this exciting volume, the authors found evidence--often stunning, sometimes subtle--of an earth forever in the making. In Wyoming, 600-year-old skeletal trees standing submerged in a lake hint at cataclysmic earthquakes that may have lowered the land they grew on by 80 feet. Fascinating facts and more than a hundred spectacular photographs illuminate mysteries and marvels of Our Awesome Earth.
Found this gem at a thrift store. I’ve never read a National Geographic book before, this was highly inspiring. Not just the photos but all the information in the text as well. It’s also vintage 1986 so all the photos were so real, unlike the overly edited stuff you see online today. I’m happy to have this in my personal library. Maybe I’ll find some more vintage NGS someday.
I love these Nat Geo books. Fantastic pictures and they are really easy to read because there is no story line or characters to learn. Just lots of great info about the world around us.
