This book is written for a Seminary student studying the Bible, or for a Pastor creating a sermon. It is an In Depth look at the book of Matthew (the 1st writer in the New Testament). I especially enjoyed the author's description of the Beatitudes - it is important that we not only recognize God's saving grace but also His transforming grace; both His forgiving grace and His enabling grace. We are the salt of the earth; we are to influence purity within society, we are to be a preserving element to society, and we are to make the earth more authentically as it should be. We are to be prayerful and forgiving. We are to share the Kingdom of Heaven, and the gospels Good News. Jesus Christ; saves and redeems, He has sent His spirit to us, we will be reunited with Him in the glory of heaven.

This is the gospel from the Jewish point of view. There were many reference ot O.T. scripture. Jewish customs and ritual are dicussed at lenth. Reading commentary as I read the text has been a winner for me. These are text that I have read and heard preacher use as the text for sermons but it has been most meaniful to read the text and commentary each morning for an hour. My mind then muses and thinks about what I have read and tell you how wonderful it is. It has taken six weeks to finish but it has been worth it.
