These short stories were so warm and cozy. It enlightened my emotions and strengthened my faith. Reading faith driven stories are always a plus in growth of a human. Loved the older setting New York vibe way back when.
This is another book I received as a hand-off from my Mom. This one had four short novels that all took place around the holidays in New York City. Again, it is a Christian fiction/romance book. All four novellas were sweet romance stories focused on faith. They were all easy to read and I quickly finished each one.
Four delightful romances set in New York City around Christmas time! Made me feel like I was really there! Wonderful book to help cool off with in August. I highly recommend this Heartsong Novellas collection from 2007
Moonlight and Mistletoe (Carrie Turansky) - 4 stars. I bought this book for this story and it didn’t disappoint. I liked both Sarah and Justin, and of course, the little dog Molly.
Shopping for Love (Gail Sattler) - 3 stars. It was pretty instalovey and the ending was very sudden and not terribly believable, but it was still cute.
Where the Love Light Gleams (Lynette Sowell) - 3 stars. I’m not a terribly big fan of “later in life” romances but i did mostly enjoy it.
Gifts from the Magi (Vasthi Reyes Acosta) - 3 stars. I liked the 12 days of Christmas gifts that the main character got. This dealt with some pretty heavy topics (attempted suicide is mentioned) but it all remained at a surface level.
Overall, I liked the Carrie Turansky story best, but I loved all the feels of Christmas in New York City.
I really loved every bit of this. I found this at my libraries book sale and wasn't sure I'd like it. 4 short, sweet romance stories all centered around NYC. These were just the stories I was wanting!
A bit of fluff at Christmas never hurt anyone right?! Easy read, 3 short novels and some VERY interesting tidbits about NYC which happens to be a big deal in my life at the moment since my cherished Charlye is living her dream in the big city!
It even had a quote for Becca: "You fall down stairs and you fall in ditches. You should plan your love life."
Sample Tidbit - "The Brooklyn Bridge crossed the most turbulen waters a bridge could at that time. Did you know that technically, this isn't a river-it's a tidal strait. That's why the water moves like this." "Did you know that they began building it in January 1870 and it wasn't finished and dedicated until May 1883? The monumental construction became a symbol of the greatness of New York and of American ingenuity."
I love this book so much that reading it each Christmas season has become a Christmas tradition for me. Once school lets out and I am on break, I curl up and try to read one story per day. I find myself caught up in the lives of the characters and the sweet romances. Living close to NYC, I enjoy knowing I have seen the tree in Rockefeller Center, the skaters in Bryant Park and other places mentioned throughout the novella. I love how all four stories are completely different from young to old, tourist to locals, and even the different ethnic and familial holiday traditons mentioned. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys holiday romance.
4 novellas, this was a fun book mostly because of the setting. I enjoyed a wonderful time in New york City with my daughter a few years ago, so every place that is mentioned is familiar, and I enjoy reading about it. These were also good, and inspiring, romances.
