Pooh and friends are ready for a winter sledding adventure! But poor Piglet keeps falling off the sled. What can the gang do to make sure that Piglet has fun, too?
When everyone goes sledding together, poor little Piglet keeps falling off every time they go down the hill. It's amusing to watch him fly through the air, wondering each time if he's been killed, and mocking his inability to hold on.
My main concern is that other than the word Christmas in the title, there is no indication this story has any connection to the holiday. The sled may be a Christmas gift, but that is never mentioned in the text or shown in the illustrations.
(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list... )
I loved how they eventually found a way to keep Piglet on the sled and to make everyone safe. I loved the large print in this book - large print makes reading so much easier for beginning readers.
This was a very cute level 1 reader. Describing action words like up, down, fast, slow
This book is more for a young listener-reader. I think an older one would get bored with it very fast. Since it's very repetitive, not so much in the text but the storyline. My almost 3 year old granddaughter almost lost interest before the end of the book, and she LOVES being read to. The whole story is the gang going sledding and Piglet falling off...then 'Where's Piglet?" they climb the hill and find him and go sledding again, and once again Piglet falls off this goes on for about four or five times then they all decide to hold Piglet and he gets to have fun. I think had this not been a Winnie The Pooh book my granddaughter would have lost interest in it quicker and wouldn't have wanted me to finish. Very repetitive and (from an adult reading it our adult thinking is like 'Dude your bigger than Roo and HE stays on!') But in the end shows friends helping each other and that is nice.
