Keller looks at the prayer life of Jesus in this brief devotional book designed to encourage the individual believer to draw near to God for guidance and strength.
Weldon Phillip Keller (1920-1997) wrote more than thirty-five books on Christian subjects, including his most popular book A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 The son of missionary parents in Kenya, Keller grow up in Africa before becoming a world citizen as a photographer, agronomist, and author. His books have over two million copies in print.
A great devotional read on prayer. Keller challenges the reader with 7 distinct areas of prayer. It is not a long book, but neither is it particularly deep. The title makes it seem like it will be an exposition of Christ’s prayers, but it isn’t. Overall I gleaned some good thoughts and was challenged in my prayer life.
Philip Keller was a sincere, humble servant of God. His writings reflect His genuine love of the Savior; no one could write with the intensity and fervor that he does unless he has an intimate fellowship with the Lord. I will read this book over and over. Learning how to come to God in humility, how to communicate with Him, how to wait on Him, and how to grow to love Him more are things I need to be reminded of time and time again.
