A little book that teaches a child how to read words that start with "o." A small boy had a box he wanted to fill, so he looked until he found animals whose names started with the same letter. He found otters, an octopus, an ostrich and an ox. He constructed a home for each of the animals to live in. Little "o" found some more words starting with "o," including his own. What do you think Little "o's" name is, and how many words can you think of that start with this letter? A beautifully illustrated book that is easy to use in teaching.

This book examines words with the short 0 sound. A child called "Little O" goes around and finds things to put in the "o" box. Not all of the things that end up in the "o" box could realistically fit, like wild animals. The verbs and other parts of the story also follow the short o sound. Having kids make their own conceptual and physical sound boxes would be a good follow-up activity.

A good overview of some objects that start with the letter "o". I believe that all of the vowels in this series are presented using their "short" sound. I would not be opposed to checking out all of the other "Sound Box" books for when I teach the other letters.

These books are generally good, but I'm ready to give up on the series. My kids hold no interest.
