Taylor does a good job of tracing the roots of godless thinking from the ancient Greek philosophers into the present day. I was hooked from the opening chapter.

Taylor's writing style is engaging and thorough, but not preachy.

I did get irritated with the MLA format he used throughout the book to cite his sources, but that is only because I have become used to the Chicago Manual of Style's footnoting. Could just be a personal preference.

The book is long - over 400 pages and some sections like the section on Radio Carbon dating methods are not for the faint of heart.

However, the research and the writing make this book a commendable read. I highly recommend it.

Originally bought this book as it was used as a reference by David Ike, in his book, And the Truth Shall Set you Free. He was the first person whom I had ever heard call into question the commonly held belief of evolution as described by Charles Darwin in his work Origin of Species. I agree with the author's perceptions and consequently, the argument Mr Ike was writing about. As Origin of Species is only the second most read book in history next to the bible, and this book is laying waste to the way and reasons for the application of Darwin's theory, the how and why it has been applied to culture and societies and influenced peoples minds. This book is a must read if your mind is muddled by questions of evolution.

This is a very interesting book, the author does challenge with different level of success most of Darwin assertions implying that a lot of them were quite ideological ones, or based on agenda, still in this very book there is a very strong Christian Creationist agenda that can be detected over and over again, it does not make the book invalid but the pushing of an agenda did bother me, because some of the conclusions seems to be taken by a religious zealot. So he is also wrong. The author also gives some wrong historical information, claiming that all ancient traditions point towards the world been made 6000 years ago. NOT SO, Hindu tradition talks about the cycle of yugas that have gigantic numbers, billions of units, Sumerian tradition also points towards great longevity, and the the Egiptians talk about 36000 years old or more depending on where you look, so very wrong info right there.
