The Story of Kobe Bryant by Wayne Coffey is a great biography on Kobe Bryant and how he made his way to the top. This biography is about Kobe Bryant and his basketball life. It starts from when he was a little boy and when his father was a pro player in the NBA and in Europe. It explained how little Kobe would watch film on players for hours and then try to imitate his idols moves. Then it went on to his high school career at Lower Merion and explained how he dominated at the high school level. Then after his high school career he either could go to a top Division 1 school, or take his talents to the NBA and enter the draft. He ended up going to the L.A Lakers and became a great player instantly. Since the book was published in 1999 it ends with young Kobe Bryant waiting for his success which little did he know he would get later on in his career. The chapters are set up chronologically throughout his basketball life. There are black and white pictures throughout the book and in the middle of the book there are big colored pictures. Since the book is set up chronologically, I think the organization of the book makes it a lot clearer to read. I also liked the authors writing style because I think he did a good job of getting all of the important, little, significant, and detailed parts of Kobe's career. It was an interesting read for me because I like basketball and Kobe is one of my favorite players. But the book would probably not be as entertaining for someone who is not a fan of basketball of Kobe. It seems like Wayne Coffey who is the author of this biography knows tons about Kobe and his story. It is definitely safe to say that he is a credible expert on Kobe Bryant. I think Coffey did a good job of explaining Kobe's early childhood and how what he did when he was a little kids effects him so much still to this day. One thing I did not like about what Coffey did with this biography is that he acted like Kobe was an amazing rookie when he only averaged around 7-8points a game his rookie season which is not a ton. People who are curious about Kobe Bryant, Kobe Bryant fans, or flat out basketball fans would probably enjoy this book and I would recommend it to those kinds of people. People would learn about the life of Kobe Bryant and why he is the person that he is today. I would rate this book 4 slam dunks out of 5 because it explained Kobe's life very well and organized and you can get a lot out of this book.

I think this book is really good because it tells you all about Kobe Byrant. How he grew up, who his dad is, and why he is named Kobe. This is a book you should read. It will tell you how he started out playing basketball. It talks about his dad who was a famous basketball player too. I recommend this book to everybody

Very informational book about my favorite basketball player. It really snapshots what he was back when he was newer in the league. It talks about his beginning and current status as one of the top dogs in the NBA.
