Forbidden Temptations

Un SEAL nel mio letto

Rate this book

I love pregnancy/baby storylines. The premise for Seal Daddy sounded so promising. But I just came off a wonderful book, similar to this that was the complete opposite. And I liked it way more than this.

I had to stop reading Seal Daddy at 23%. I just couldn't go on.
Nicole is the worst kind of female lead. I couldn't stand her. She seduces Jason before he leaves on deployment, tells him he was her first and then bolts before he wakes up. He ships out the next day.
She gets pregnant and has their daughter Charlotte (Lottie).

Cut to, two years later... Jason has retired from the Navy. He's back in town and living 10 minutes away. He's also her father's best friend so he's around a lot. Nicole avoids him. She's lied to everyone about her daughter's paternity. I get being nervous to tell Jason the truth that he has a daughter and also clueing her father in on their past but her reasoning was fucking ridiculous and beyond unfair. It was so, so wrong it grated on my nerves. She blamed Jason for everything when really the situation they were in was ENTIRELY her doing. It was his fault he deployed. That he didn't contact her while he was deployed. That he wasn't there when she had a car accident while pregnant.
1 - Nicole knew he was being deployed before she slept with him. It's his job for god's sake! Her father is also in the Navy so she should know the drill.
2 - Nicole ran away after they slept together. How was that supposed to inspire him that she wanted to keep things going between them? It's not liked they talked about their feelings beyond attraction before they had sex?
3- Jason didn't know she was pregnant so how was he suppose to be present for her pregnancy when she had that accident?
I don't give a shit if your a feminist, what does that have to do with your child deserving a father?
She was just so selfish. Nicole was only thinking of herself, not Lottie. She has all these stupid reasons to not tell him but it was all about protecting herself. I'm sorry but that's a fucking copout. To deny your child a father because you don't want to share Lottie?
It’s not like she doesn’t know Jason. Nicole knows what kind of man he is. She knows Jason is a good man. The man is desperate to know the truth. She gets furious at him because he says he owes her the truth. SHE DOES! Lottie is his child too.
Jason knows instantly that Lottie is his because they share the same eyes and yet Nicole continues to snap at him, yell at him, lie to him about his child.
And after all this behaviour, during the confrontation about their child's paternity she just sleeps with him again. Afterwards, Jason makes it clear he wants to be in Lottie's life but Nicole says she won't make room for him. So it’s alright for her to screw him but not let him be a father to their kid? Yeah that’s completely unfair. Jason should have sued her.

I'm giving up at this point. I feel like neither of them deserve Lottie. Who the hell is thinking of her here?! I have friends who grew up without a Dad and I can tell you it does leave an emotional scar. So I couldn’t agree with Nicole’s excuses. I also despise when female characters keep their kids from the Dad but continue to sleep with him? It’s one of the most selfish and complicated things you could ever do.

So I'm out.

DNF. Honestly was curious about this one since the summary was already questionable. Don't like secret baby tropes but again, curiosity won me over. I understand not telling a guy about the baby for only a handful of reasons, like it's not safe for the mom or the baby, if he was a serial killer/rapist, and if he literally dropped off the face of the earth and couldn't be reached. None of these are the reasons why she didn't tell him. She honestly did not have a legitimate reason for not telling him. She could have easily reached him. Had his info and everything. But didn't want to call him because the government could be listening in. WTF lol like are you a spy or something? Ok fine but when he was stateside, she still didn't tell him because ???? No real reason other than selfishness and stupidity. She doesn't need to tell him that he's the father because she's a feminist. *rolls eyes for 10 minutes* and she's decided that he doesn't need to know, that her daughter doesn't need a father. She didn't tell him because he was gonna go on another mission, which he wouldn't have done if he knew he had a kid. I wanted to come here and give this a 1 because the female lead is an actual idiot who hides behind feminism and uses that as an excuse to not tell a guy that he has a kid, when he deserves to know he has a kid. It wasn't like he was a jerk. He didn't her after sex and disappear. So. Annoying. If we're talking about children here, the only one I saw was Nicole. Grow up. Man up (I refuse to say woman up because actual feminists deserve better than this character) and tell the guy. So bad on my curiosity for picking this up, oops.

This story was addicting and good, but not particularly great. I found the FMC whiny and a bit selfish. I know it's an age gap romance, but I felt the age gap too much. You just know she sucks at communication. Honestly, I felt like the MMC just stuck around because that was what expected of him. I didn't really feel like he "wanted" to stay with them. I just didn't feel like they were compatible. I just KNOW that they got a divorce a few years later. I don't believe for one second that they had a HEA. Even though the characters say they love each other, it just wasn't... believable.
This is the second book I read from this author and WHERE WAS THE SPICE???? It felt like such a closed door romance. There were scenes, but the way it was described? It never delivered.

THE WHOLE BOOK I WANTED FOR JESS AND ADRIAN TO GET TOGETHER AND JUST SAW THAT THEY HAVE THEIR OWN BOOK!!!!
Definitely gonna read that one. Just hope it won't be as disappointing as this one.

Meh...

"Daddy" stories are not my favorite, so I admit that I read this with a little skepticism and negativity. But there were so many things--other than the age gap--that I didn't like.

I will also admit up front that some of my issues are down right petty--like the fact that Jason wore a lot of gingham and linen. But others, IMO, were a little more substantial.

First, Jason finds out that Nicole has a baby. When he finds out that the timing of the birth DOES NOT coincide with the time he and Nicole spent together, does he breathe a sigh of relief that his best friend won't have to find out that Jason slept with his daughter? No. Regardless of the facts as he knows them, and without having seen the kid to arouse suspicion, Jason decides that he has to find out if the kid is his.

What man would do this?

Then Nicole, who made no attempts whatsoever to get in touch with Jason to inform him of the pregnancy, has an attitude with him. How dare he think she owes him an explanation... Please note my sarcasm. Then she goes on about the circumstances of the premature birth and having to do things on her own. Ma'am... You chose to go it alone when you refused to tell him about the baby.

She had a few of these b!tc#y moments... even blaming his Naval career as an obstacle that kept her from reaching out. Not to mention the lies she told her father over the past 2 years.

Amid all of this, Jason and Nicole fall into bed again--repeatedly. And guess what her first instinct is when she finds out that she's pregnant again? She wasn't going to tell him.

The one thing that kept my interest was waiting to see how they would get busted. Nicole taught baby Charlotte to call Jason "Daddy," then had to hope Charlotte didn't say it when Grandpa Adrian was around. (So stupid.) I really wanted the baby to blow their cover...

All of this on top of a whole slew of typos and screwy sentence structure.

Thanks, but no thanks.

As you can see on the subtitle(?) of this book, it's an age gap secret baby trope. Usually this premise results to interesting situations on a story that's why I'm okay reading books with premise like this.

I don't have high expectations going in, just hoping for something to connect with. Unfortunately, this book did not work for me.

This story revolves around Nicole and Jason. The reason why Nicole hid her pregnancy is ridiculous for me. Nicole just decided/assumed/guessed/concluded that Jason won't be okay with the pregnancy. It was a chore reading Nicole's POV. It was very hard to root for her when all she does is lie, lie, lie and more lies.

Jason on the other hand was sort of decent at first then suddenly he's a jerk. His character kept on changing depending on the situations. Like the conflict is Jason's inability to decide.

Nicole and Jason's relationship is not believable for me. I don't know why after every scene, the two of them kept on doing the horizontal tango. 😅

I feel like the resolution with Nicole's dad was just brushed off. Like everything turned out well, everything was forgiven just like that because Nicole is pregnant again.

The only one I like on this book is Jessica. I think there's a book about her and Nicole's dad. Not sure if I'll read it. Oh and Charlotte is cute but I think sometimes she's acting way older than what her real age is.

This was just a little boring and predictable.

Aside from the initial holier than thou decision Nicole made to withhold Charlotte's existence from her daddy (Jason), there was little excitement or events of significance. I really dislike female characters who decide to keep the baby-daddy away from their child, especially when she made no effort to contact him to let him know they had something to discuss. Nicole out and out lied to her father for selfish reasons (she didn't want him disappointed, upset, or angry with her first, then justified her decision by thinking Jason didn't deserve to have Adrian's anger rain down on him without knowing why).

Fortunately, Jason's a responsible, stand-up, very mature man who really had been interested in Nicole, and he had wondered why she snuck off (so young!). He didn't make it to his Captaincy in the Navy SEALS by being stupid or unreasonable, and he figured out quickly Nicole's story had a huge hole in it that was Jason-shaped. Very predictable. Also, disliked Nicole as a shady female character (actually, her dad's short-time girlfriend Shannon was shady, too). Very much would have preferred her to have tried unsuccessfully to reach him, or at least believe he deserved a chance to meet his kid, then if he refused, don't give him rope to hurt her and baby. Three stars.

this book has so much potential…

But omg it was so hard to finish! I should have known I wasn’t gonna be happy when I realized what a selfish inconsiderate “feminist” the heroine of the book was. I hated her as soon as she said she didn’t want to tell Jason because she didn’t want to share the baby. And then Jason ended up having a very immature attitude for a man his age. It lacked what I love most about age gap romances. Further more, the chemistry between the main characters just wasn’t there! This book didn’t make me feel the love or attraction and I was so disappointed.

okay read

An okay read but both characters acted quite immaturely and although well suited to each other irritated the heck out of me. Just an okay read.

Engaging, charming story.
This is a very enjoyable, easy-to-read age-gap, forbidden romance between Nicole and Jason. Not only is he much older than she is but is the best friend of Nicole’s father. So, their liaison should have been a double no-no. Life, however on occasion throws a curveball, in this case, their one night together results in a beautiful little girl, Lottie. Jason only learns of his fatherhood 2 years later, upon his return from active duty. There is a lot of angst, unspoken words, unexplored emotions that make this book longer. However, the author’s style, use of language, vocabulary, character and plot development and description make this novel a very good read. After a lot of uncertainty, the protagonists do finally realise their true feelings, although they also find out that they can’t make everybody happy all of the time. Friendships get tested to the limits, but the novel gives the reader a resolution to all the hesitancy and finishes on a nice HEA. I can’t wait to read Nicole’s father, Adrian’s story.

Nicole has been crushing on Jason for years. They are together a lot while putting together her mother's wake. After the reception, one thing leads to another and their closeness becomes a moment of intimacy. Nicole ends up with a baby Jason doesn't know about because he is off on several deployments as a SEAL. Fast forward a couple of years and Jason has settled at home in his retirement. When her father starts talking about Nicole's baby, he does the math and suspects that the baby is his. Jason wants to be in baby Charlotte's life but he has freak out moments when the whole family thing is too much for him. As he hangs out getting to know Charlotte, he is drawn to Nicole again. Their relationship becomes intimate while they hide it all from her father. Nicole has one more secret for Jason and doesn't know if he is going to flee. Great book from Sofia T Summers. You will enjoy this read.

I now have a new favourite book from Sofia T. Summers! This is one of those stories you can't help but gobble up! The chemistry between Nicole and Jason is hot enough to melt the pages. When Nicole's mother dies Jason, who is her father's best friend, steps in to help when her father is so grief-stricken he can't. Jason comforts her and one thing leads to another. Nicole ends up pregnant but doesn't tell Jason who goes back out on deployment as a SEAL.

Years later Jason comes back to settle down. He finds out that Nicole has a daughter named Charlotte and begins to put the pieces together. Things get even more complicated quickly with family drama front and center, especially with the secrets and added element of Nicole's dad's new girlfriend.

Pick up this book today! You won't regret it!

Wow, I really loved this story. It goes to show you that just because you are older does not mean that you can communicate very well. These two have secrets, drama, love, lust, and more emotions. This couple is a duo that should not have crossed the line, but what does that really matter. If you have feelings for someone and return them, why not see what can come of it. He is her dad's best friend, and she is a college student. There is an age gap, but that isn't really a big deal these days. They have a heated one-night stand. He goes back to the Navy, and she goes back to college. There is a huge secret that one is keeping. What happens when the secret comes out?

I loved the story about Jason and Nicole. Jason is a Navy Seal and her fathers best friend, Jason drove Nicole to her mothers funeral they were drinking and ended up sleeping together when Nicole woke up she ran not wanting to see him in the morning. Jason was off then for nine months on tour. Nicole had a daughter (Charlotte) at seven months after being in a car accident, now with Jason being back from tour and retired from the Navy kept asking the question about Charlotte if she was his child but Nicole would not tell him. Should she trust him with staying around this time?

A delightful story
After fighting the attraction for several years, Nicole and Adrian give in one night. Being a Seal as well as her father’s best friend complicates the situation immensely when she finds out she is pregnant. Fortunately he retires when the baby is about 18 months old and returns home not knowing that he is a father. How they work things out makes for a very interesting and sometimes emotional story since she isn’t the only one with secrets.

Somethings are so worth the risk.

This was such an enjoyable read. So much so that I could see past the age difference and see a beautiful picture. This book will have you questioning the characters mindset from time to time. But in the end you will definitely know that somethings are so worth the risk for true happiness.

Now I’m looking forward to seeing Adrian’s story....

The Wolf

Jason was Nicole’s fathers best friend. After her mother’s death Nicole turned to Jason for comfort but she’d always been attracted to him. She went back to college and he deployed. She kept her pregnancy a secret and lied about who the father was but once Jason retired from the Navy she knew she couldn’t hide the resemblance of her daughter to him.
Age Gap, Dads best friend, secret pregnancy

It did have quite a few errors and needs a good editing but was a solid story.

This story grabs your attention and holds you hostage from page one. Nicole is drawn to her father's best friend. When one night leaves a gift that will be collected in nine months creates all kinds of issues for Nicole as she navigates her way around explaining the baby to her father. When Adrian returns and learns of Nicole's child he is skeptical. But she isn't the only one withholding secrets and when they all come out will she, her father and Adrian come out unscathed and will Nicole and Adrian hold on to enough that it will lead them along the road to a happily ever after?

Jason and Nicole’s Love Tryst! 4.35***** Spoiler Alert!

Jason, retired SEAL, and his much younger baby mama’s, Nicole, reconnected two years later, after learning about Charlotte/Lottie from his best bud Adrian, who is also Nicole’s dad. Parenting roles are reassessed and honesty to all around led to a HEA and a second child, boy named Ben. Fair plot with one dimensional dialogue, but Nicole’s withholding of information could’ve eased her’s and Lottie’s lives two years earlier. Yes he always loved her despite the 15+ year age difference.

Great read

The heart knows what the heart wants. Jason knew Nicole was off limits. After all, she was his best friend’s daughter. However when she was around the pull between the two of them was electrifying. Their one night stand turned into parenthood. Something Jason found out almost 2 years later. Their chemistry was undeniable the two of them picked up as if they were never apart.

SEAL Daddy is book nine in the series Forbidden Temptations by author Sofia T Summers. Entertaining and intriguing storyline with all the thrills of real life. Yes there’s drama and the pitfalls of secrets but there’s also some real moments that make you think - all this is tempered with just enough spicy moments.
Enjoy!!

Older man /YOUNG women ROMANCE

This story is about an older Man and a young woman. Jason had known Nicole all her life, because she was his best friend daughter. NICOLE always had a crust on Jason so on the wake of her mother they had a passionate night ,and she got pregnant. I am no fan of Nicole for the lies she fed her father about the father of her child. Why did she lie.Boy you got to read to find out.

Very Good!

Jason and Nicole have an unusual situation. He is her father's best friend, she is the mother of his child, conceived during an emotional night before he left for a 2 year deployment. Jason knows nothing about his daughter and Nicole's widowed father knows nothing of his granddaughter's father. All the ingredients for a real life " soap opera"! Very good story plot but some really " dumb" decisions made by all 3 adults.

Marginally entertaining.

The story was alright, but not spectacular nor insightful. The romance was not even passable, I will not include her lack of knowledge of the Navy (or how the SEALs are ranked for actual use [like a forty plus Captain would be deployed, let alone be a SEAL]). The intimate scenes were bla, nothing of excitement. I would not recommend this because it did not give me any of the feels.

Surprisingly very nice!

From the description I thought this book could not be good. In fact I got it thinking I would get a laugh. I was pleasantly surprised. It was well written and the author did a great job making an unbelievable description very believable. The characters had depth and their reactions were how real people would react. I would recommend.

Now, THIS is a love story.

Lost love, second chance, older man, young woman, dad's best friend, secret dad - I think we got ALL of it rolled into this story! A well-written, heartfelt love story with enough bumps and side roads to make the HEA well worth it! Thank you for your time, talent and the story!

having a baby after a one night stand is not ideal. The father being old enough to be your father AND best friends with your father complicates matters immensely. I understand her reluctance to let him in beyond being a father to her daughter. It was an emotional read and I connected with it deeply.

I would describe this book as “decent” but not great. Both the hero and heroine were a bit stupid in how they handled their relationship and they were horrible Communicators. It was weird because they had a ton of sex but it was not detailed at all. The book isn’t terrible, I just thought much more could have been done with this premise. It was just ok for me.
