For the first time, and without intending to do so, Blade returns to a Dimension he has visited before--Tharn. He is presented to their King and finds him to be his son! Blade's only child, and sired but a few short years ago--Tharnian time being different from Home Dimension time.
His son tells him that Tharn is being ravaged by the Looters, a hostile people from yet another Dimension, who have machines to fight for them.
Blade plans a war of machines to prevent the Looters from enslaving the Tharnians. With the help of a beautiful defector he plans a tremendous battle to determine the future of Tharn and of his son.
This is the first time Richard Blade returns to a previously visited world. He discovers he has an adult son (which accepts him all too quickly for my tastes). The people of Tharn have fled the cities from an invading force from yet another dimension. These invaders boast flying machines, dart guns, lasers, and atomic bombs. The people of Tharn have iron age weapons. Oh, boy!
Filled with fantastic adventure, and of course the obligatory sex scenes.
I didn't find this one very compelling but part of the reason is that this is the first of the Blade series books to essentially be a sequel to another book, and I haven't read that one. I didn't realize until I was into this one that "Looters of Tharn" is a sequel to #3 in the Blade series, "Jewel of Tharn." That probably would have helped, but, even so, this book was relatively slow until near the end. The villains are also rather hapless so this didn't have a lot of suspense in it. I've liked others in this series quite a bit more.
