This series was written for the American Christian home school market. The Home School Detectives consist of three sets of brother/sister siblings from the same church who were introduced in The Mystery of the Homeless Treasure. The Mystery of the Vanishing Cave is book five in the series in which Rebecca, Julie and Emily, attend a Christian camp for girls. While out on a walk, the girls discover an opening and fall into a large cave. Inside they find native American artefacts but, after they are rescued, they are unable to find the cave again the next day. The other girls at the camp accuse them of lying. This episode includes some very spiteful school-type behaviour. There are eight books in the series.
Home Ed Style: Christian but no specified style.
Home Ed Portrayal: Positive Christian.
Conclusion: A readable mystery but the level of Christian content will limit its appeal and I felt the moralising was heavy-handed. Not for me.
