The Practice of Statistics is the most trusted program for AP® Statistics because it provides teachers and students with everything they need to be successful in the statistics course and on the AP® Exam. With the expert authorship of high school AP® Statistics veterans, Daren Starnes and Josh Tabor and their supporting team of AP® teacher/leaders, The Practice of Statistics, Sixth edition (TPS6) has been crafted to follow the topical outline of the AP® Statistics course with careful attention paid to the style, nomenclature, and language used on the AP® Statistics exam. It combines a data analysis approach with the power of technology, innovative pedagogy, and an extensive support program built entirely for the sixth edition. New resources, including a robust online homework program and an extensively revised TestBank, give teachers and students everything they need to realize success on the exam and in the course.

Pretty good for a middle school level introductory textbook–––the reader gets the application part well but the theory behind statistics is grossly oversimplified and underexplained. Would like to see a more rigorous treatment of random variables and operators such as mean and variance, as well as the derivation of certain results concerning continuous random variables via convolution integrals. Bringing in the Dirac delta and the unit doublet would have made things fun...but again, can't blame the book, as its title makes clear the book's intended purpose as a practical manual rather than a theoretical treatise.

I loved the layout of this book, it was as aesthetically pleasing as math can be. I liked the way the examples were done, and most of the chapters were okay. I especially liked the chapter reviews for a quick run-through the class period before the test. However, there were a lot of instances that I couldn't find an example to help me walk through a problem (even the ones provided by the book), and often, I would have to wait for class to halfway understand something. If not for having an awesome teacher, I would have been eternally lost in this class if I had only to rely on this book.

I am not generally a fan of textbooks but this one is superior. There are lots of good stories, examples, and activities to explain different concepts that you would typically learn in a first semester college statistics class.

There is sufficient practice at the end of each unit and all the odd answers are in the back of the book.
