Steppingstone

Portia Lane from "Do or Die" New York is a natural born street savvy hustler that traveled the coast paper chasing with a prudence for the night life. Even with a college degree, she never ruled out any options especially involving fast money and excitement. A gift for gab granted her game enough that she could utilize her kitty as her lethal weapon. Mystique about her "privates," Portia is feeling that the game maybe old as she bids herself into the arms of "thug passion."

Jay Mitchell is one of NY's justifiable thugs. His lady is Luck, Wife is a Desert Eagle and his main mistress is his .45. M.O.B. forget wasting time and energy on love. It was all long- term stability. Without a father guiding his steps it was his goal to be a role model for his mini me, Jayquan. That was fine until he found himself caught up in Portia-ville. Despite what he says P had him open in a major way.

Now can this ambiguous pair survive baby mama drama, lifestyle, drama, and growth?

This is a very explicit account that will immediately draw readers in with drama, jealousy, skepticism, passion, betrayal along with a range of risqué behaviors that depicts the reality of HIV/AIDS and the importance of practicing safe sex. It's all STREET with the characters and their attempts to maintain A DOLLAR OUTTA FIFTEEN CENT.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Wowwwww.....I haven't read a book like this one in a long time. (Street) I really enjoyed it, I liked the characters, although in the beginning I wanted to CHOKE Portia and Khalil!

I grew to really love Portia's character and Jay as well. I loved the friendship between Portia, Laila, Simone and Fatima.... I really wished that things could have turned out different for Sweet gun toting Simone, my heart really went out to her.

I love the fact that this author turned this enjoyable read into a life lesson, people really need to take HIV/AIDS SERIOUSLY!! I would definitely recommend this book...:-)) I started reading early yesterday and was done last night.. Kudos to Caroline...About to read part II

Known as Brooklyn hottest stripper Portia Lane is a go getter, all on her mind is stacking doe but dont get it twisted she is far from dumb.Along this ride she takes her best friends with her Samone,Laila & Fatima, together can't nobody stop them.Portia starts to realize that she is breaking her number one rule when she starts falling for one of her clients she soon realize that life may never be the same.

Jay is every girl's dream. He has swagger and ambition but all he is focus on is his empire & his son. After visiting the club and being under Portia spell he can't seem to stop thinking about her.He see's something in her that despite her stripping life he wants to give her a chance.

Will Portia be able to prove she has changed and is ready for a better life or will she past be stuck in the streets of hustling for ever? Either way they say the past is never to far behind and sometimes you have to pay.

Whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. This was a great read. I decided to take it back a few years and read an old book and I'm glad I did. From the first page I was pulled in and I was so stuck I had to keep reading until I found out what happen. It had just the right drama and really pulled at your emtions. This would have been the perfect stand alone it ended well,But im curious so I will continue on with the series. MUST READ!!!!!!!

I have been wanting to read this book for the longest. Have to say all the characters all stuck out in their own way. So much drama from start to ending. VERY LONG read.

Portia stripper that believe she found what she want in Jay. Jay trying to pay hard, but knew he wanted Portia, but keeping it cool.

Portia friends Fatima, Simone and Lalila all have their own problems with there men.

Fatima dealing with young boys that she treats them to everything spoiling them ends up falling for Jay's friend Wise.

Simone dealing with a married man as that backfire on her.

Lalila married with two kids with her and her husband having secrets of their own.

Jay drug dealer and business man with his friend Cas by his side.

Good read.

All I can say is OMG! My heart goes out to the ladies...Portia really has my heart hurting behind all she went through. Simone oh how I loved her wit and sassy ways. I really wished thing would have turned out so much different. Fatima was my girl, I just wish she was a little more secure in herself. Laila was a goody goody that had her scandalous ways undercover. The real men in the story were Jay, Casino and Wise. I felt like Khalil was a buster for the things he did to Portia and Lalia. Can't wait to read part 2.

A Dollar Outta Fifteen Cent by Caroline McGill is interest and excellent book to read because I enjoyed reading this book. This is my first book reading from this author. Caroline McGill did a good job to out this book because I felt love this book and I can’t stop reading this book.

Portia, Lalia, Simone, and Fatima were a good friends and they are be there to each other. Each of them have their own personal issues but I felt bad for each of them. This book and author deserve a five star. I am looking forward to reading another book from this author.

Worth Every Dime

Portia hustled her way through college by taking it all off at the Twilight Tower. Despite years later being equipped with a degree in Accounting, she is still shaking it fast and showing what she working with. Sitting on a nice little nest egg, Portia is finally ready to hang up her g-string and square up; especially since she's feeling one of her best and highest paying customers - Jay. A true hustler, will Jay even consider wifing a former stripper? Will Portia's transition to working a 9 to 5 go as smoothly as planned? Are there consequences to trying to make a dollar outta fifteen cent?

Add to the mix Portia's three best friends - Simone, Fatima, and Laila who are (B)eautiful, (I)ntelligent, (T)empting, (C)harming and (H)eadstrong. With the everyday drama in the lives of Portia, her friends, and their men, A Dollar Outta Fifteen Cent makes for a highly entertaining novel. I was hooked from page one. There was never a dull moment. Caroline's provocative drama dares to lift the veil on a little discussed topic in AA fiction today - the "monster" or HIV/AIDS. Not only was the book entertaining, but it contained a powerful message. A message we all need to listen to since HIV/AIDS is afflicting black women at an alarming rate. Caroline is off to a great start with a very promising literary career. This is a must read. I anxiously await her sophomore novel, Guns and Roses Part 1.

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I was very skeptical at first. But once I started to read it I could not put it down. The lives of the main character and her circle of friends were true to life and keep you engrossed in the reading. Just beware this book is not one that feeds the mind but is a raw read on street life.

I'm so mad at myself for not reading this book sooner it was off the chain. This book definitely had me in my feelings. I love all the twist and turns and all the drama. It touched on AIDS. That's why is always good to protect yourself and get tested you never know what your partner or yourself has unless you get tested. Great book 5 star banger for sure. You will not go wrong with this book.

I like the griminess of this story. Portia was on her money and did some crazy stuff on the chase of it. I waited the whole book for her skeletons to fall out and low and behold they didn't. It was a great read.

If the book starts off with someone doing "things" for money and she never really was financially strapped, Well, that it just silly to me. The book might work with the younger crowd, But I have read thousands of books (literally) and this was not for me.
