Job hunting can be murder. Kat Harper wants nothing more than to forget about her disastrous job interview, but that's pretty hard to do when your interviewer turns up dead. Now Kat's search for employment has turned into a search for a killer. As Kat soon discovers, she has her work cut out for her. Leo Price left behind quite a few enemies, including a struggling former business partner and a bevy of ex-girlfriends. But the amateur sleuth isn't going to let the abundance of suspects discourage her. While she labors to find temporary accommodations for Stumpy, Leo's gray Manx cat, she's also sniffing out as many clues as she can. She'd better hope the wrong person doesn't catch wind of her investigation though, or it may be up to her furry feline pals to save her from tragedy once more. All of the Cozy Cat Caper Mystery books can be enjoyed as standalones but will be better appreciated as part of the series. The books are light, fun cozy mysteries featuring an animal-loving female amateur sleuth, lovable and not-so-lovable quirky characters, and a page-turning mystery that needs solving. None of the books include cliffhangers, bad language, or graphic scenes.
Paige Sleuth is a pseudonym for mystery author Marla Bradeen. She plots murder during the day and fights for mattress space with her two rescue cats at night. When not attending to her cats' demands, she writes.
So Kat goes for an interview for a job that's in the field she's trained in, she hope not to have to wait tables for much longer. However, destiny is not so simple and straight forward. The interview goes badly, very badly. Then later that night the interviewer is brutally murdered.
Did Kat hate the guy that much? is she being framed or is there something else going on here?
This was the first book in the Cherry Hills series that I read, I picked it up in a charity shop for £0.50 along with another book in the same series. I enjoyed it and will be on the look out for more of the Cherry Hill adventures now.
