Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

The end of the East Blue arc will be the end of me reading One Piece.
I'm really glad a checked this out. The art is wonderful - how does Oda continually produce this level of detail, time and again? - and the characters were worth getting to know. At the end of this volume, the story got away from repeated fight scenes for a while and it was really fun to see the characters in a new context.
I had a great conversation with my son Will about One Piece when I finished reading this. Reading this series has been quite a pleasant surprise for both of us. Since he has plans to continue reading, I hope he'll keep me informed about the Merry Go's adventures.
I am finally out of the prologue and onto material that was not covered in the recent live-action adaptation! I'm very excited to see what comes next, and I enjoyed the characters' stint in Loguetown immensely. (My friend has explained to me the proper pronunciation and spelling of Loguetown, even though this translation uses Roguetown. It's fascinating to hear stories about the translation process and where fans think it is lacking, and I wish there were more supplementary footnotes explaining the original Japanese names and their many puns.)
Woo-hoo, finally got to the Grand Line! And Arlong was definitely the most hateable villain thus far, I'm sure the villains keep building and building from here. Great to see some of the other villains return with revenge, especially Buggy 🤡 Zoro's sword side quest was very fun, love sword lore. Onwards!
I don’t think there is spoilers in this but sorry if it dose. Book ten and 11 are soo amazing! Love how the fish men battle is closed out. Book 12 gets a little interesting but still really good because it is, one pice! Definite read!
This fight was crazy for the beginners of one piece. I mean, like zoro took out so many fishmans and sat on the throne like he owned it, and luffy took out the strongest in the east blue, which means there was only one thing left to do. Go to the grand line
