Rate this book
Times are changing more rapidly than ever--particularly in the vital areas of biochemistry, the environment, energy, drugs, and health and nutrition. In this revision, the authors of Chemistry for Changing Times strengthen the book's environmental focus by tying "Environmental Explorations" critical-thinking exercises to the media, and by implementing a framework that uses the ACS's Environmental Principles, which are written by experts in the field.
Pearson eText gives students access to the text whenever and wherever they can access the Internet. The eText pages look exactly like the printed text, and include powerful interactive and customization functions. This does not include the actual bound book.
Used by over a million science students, the Mastering platform is the most effective and widely used online tutorial, homework, and assessment system for the sciences. This is the product access code card for MasteringChemistry(R) and does not include the actual bound book.

Makes me want to go back to college to study Chemistry again. Much of this I know, for example the easy stuff like Vinegar is an acid, and Radon is the source of the majority of the radiation most of us are exposed to. Much I never really mastered, like Moles and Molar Mass.

This is a great book for everyone who thinks they're educated. If all the students get out of it is the first chapter, including especially its introduction to Critical Thinking, it's a text & course worth studying. Illustrations are clear & powerful. Each chapter has additional Critical Thinking Exercises. Examples of relevance infuse the entire text and are, indeed, important.

I don't know how much one could get out of the book alone. I only skimmed, because tbh I need the workbook and a professor for most of the parts that I don't already have mastered.

Spent a long time fearing this subject only because it was so hard for me to understand. It's good to know I've conquered that fear. Going to this class and applying that knowledge always felt like I was going to Hogwarts. This book combined with all the resourceful YouTube videos made this an exciting subject to learn.

This was my university chemistry textbook and I can safely say it's a great adjunct to any teaching course. Explains everything from enthalpy to half-reactions, with a splash of occasional humour. Great investment IMHO, good for one's professional bookshelf.
