I liked it but it wasn’t the thing that I was expecting. There was definitely something going on about it and I liked it so much but not that much.I didn’t really think there was an ending I liked BLUR and lots more but I didn’t know the treasure that they found or did they even find the treasure?

What a fun adventure story for you girls and boys alike. Code Crimson is the first instalment of the Arkie Sparkle Treasure Hunter series by Australian author, Petra James. Arkie is eleven years old and enlists the help of her same-aged cousin TJ and her dog Cleopatra to help her save her parents- they have been kidnapped.

Arkie must locate seven individual treasures as per the kidnapper’s directions to free her parents. In Code Crimson, Arkie and TJ must uncover the first treasure which requires them to go back in time, to ancient Egypt and uncover where it was hidden.

In Code Crimson, there’s everything a kid needs to be engaged in a story: fun characters with special abilities, technological gadgets, interesting facts about science and history and of course two brave, intelligent kids who save the day. It’s only 100 pages with plenty of pictures, fact boxes and large-spaced text.

I’m looking forward to reading the second instalment, Time Trap set in China which is due for release in August.

This is a fantastic action adventure book for middle grades. Arkie Sparkle is a miniature Indiana Jones and she is on a quest to find her parents.

Arkie comes home from school to find the house open and her parents no where in sight. After eating the last cookie in the cookie jar, she finds a ransom note. Arkie now has to embark on an adventure to find clues to treasures and her parents. Arkie is no newbie to treasure hunting and has all the gadgets available under the sun.

Book 1 is day 1 of her adventure and sends her to Cairo. After fighting through a sandstorm and making historical friends, she has found what she is after, but this is only the beginning.

Next book in the series is Time Trap (Arkie Sparkle, Treasure Hunter, #2) by Petra James

A fun and exciting detective story for girls, told in the form of a treasure hunt. Unfold the mystery of who kidnapped Arkie's archeologist parents; find the clues, get wrapped up in the fun of Arkie and TJ's cool gadgets and wow-factor technology to help them crack the case.
There are interesting historical tidbits to learn as Arkie and her cousin TJ jet around the globe hunting for treaure clues.
These are short little books in a 7 book series, which provides plenty of satisfaction in completing a book in good time (for those we are encouraging to read more independently). Though they are short, the books contain enough challenging words and some real hisotrical and geographical facts to keep them on their toes.
My only gripe concerns the numerous sentences unnecessarily beginnning with "and". In most cases, these were not actually sentences.

having so many gadgets means Arkie and her cousin don't have to think much but hey this is fantasy and has a time slip machine. It's written competently and has amusing comments or lists in the margins. I feel that having to read through 7 books to work through the 7 clues and continents is going to be somewhat tedious. owever, bk 1 has 111 well spaced pages so it is going to add up to a lot of reading in the end.
