Home Is Where the Boat Is is and entertaining and informative report on the lifestyle of adventures who cruise the oceans in small sailboats. Written for sailors and laymen alike and for anyone who has ever dreamed of sailing off into the sunset, it is a lively and honest account of the pros and cons of cruising. Chapters include getting food and water, doing laundry, making a living, meeting the natives, surviving storms and sickness. The book is also a love story about the author, a journalist, and the typical "yachtie" with whom she spent 13 years sailing halfway around the world, visiting scores of tropical paradise.
She's organized the book into topics which you could read in any order although I would save the last 2 for the end. I'd love to know a bit more personal details and see photos but I was fascinated none the less!
This book is not a comprehensive guide of how to live on a boat full-time, but it is very insightful and interesting! It was a quick read with lots of insight, and I plan to revisit it ⛵️
I may be the only one, but I felt sad she did not stay with Peter, and extend her boat bum lifestyle. They sound like they were a wonderful Captain/first mate (well, despite the dog). Can I also add, I would have loved to hear more about Wags? Other than that, loved the book.
