The first time I read this book it was in one sitting and I recall feeling overpowered by its magic while reading it and when I was finished I felt like I had dream the whole fucking thing. So I had to read it again. And when I drove from Philadelphia to San Francisco with Magdalena Zurawski we read this book out loud to each other page by page until it was finished and we felt like we had dreamt the whole ...
I had the bad luck to read this book after Berrigan's most recent book, Glad Stone Children, one of the best collections of poetry I've ever read and a veritable life-changing experience.
Don't get me wrong, Disarming Matter is quite good and recommended (if you can find a copy).
The good news is: Berrigan keeps getting better and better - I can't wait for his next book of poems!
