Old school book, but a nice blend of practical (where to place violets in the home for optimum growth, when to fertilize, how to propagate, etc.) and scientific (how to take lighting footcandle measurements, species names, etc.). While it focuses on African violets, there are nice sections about the most popular flowering houseplants that were equally helpful.
