This classic story of a toy bunny that learns what it means to be real, showshow becoming real and embracing one's true self can make individuals wiser, healthier, and, best of all, happier. Illustrations.
This is another one of my old time favorites. I believe my teacher read this to us in Elementary school then we watched the movie. This is a heartbreaker if you've ever had a favorite stuffed animal and "lost" it. I remember tearing up on the movie, even with the happy ending for the rabbit, and I still choke up reading the book. The illustrations in this book are very colorful and very well done.
I have had this book since I was a child. I wanted to read it to my own daughters one night and could not find it. I searched for days and the book did not show up. Ten years later, my youngest daughter, Patti, gave me a new copy of the book as a gift. I shall never forget it. This copy I have in a very safe place.
When I was younger I considered my toys as real, feeling creatures which is why I painstakingly took really good care of them. I just wish someone gave me this book then so I would've made my sister read it. Haha!
I love the Velveteen Rabbit! I really like this edition because it's a board book, so younger children can read it without me worrying about the pages ripping up.
One of my favorite books of all time, this one hits home--in your heart. The conversation between the rocking horse and the rabbit still makes me tear up.
