Fortunes is a story of decadence and redemption; the decadence bred from a life of privilege, and one man’s attempt at redemption from it. Jack Fortune is a self-loathing man living with the consequences of his past. Exiled from his family, he makes his home in the Arizona desert amongst a gang of roughneck bikers. He lives a simple life working from paycheck to paycheck, and drinking his sorrows away every evening. But one day a stranger shows up with news, and he’s forced to confront a hidden past. Jack, the son of a wealthy Wall Street mogul must now return home, where his father is dying and the family business is in trouble – mired in a web of deceit. Can Jack set things right with his father, save the business and return to his rightful place as successor to a family dynasty?
To anyone who happens to read this... I am the author of this book.
Therefore, my review may not be entirely without bias.
I tend to write about topics that interest me, and Fortunes has a little of everything; money, motorcycles, greed, boats, finance...
It's about a guy who has fallen out of favor with his family (his own fault), and he's punishing himself for his wrong-doing. Then, one day he gets an opportunity to make it right, but it means returning to the lifestyle that caused his exile in the first place.
It's a suspense/drama genre, with some action, but the action isn't a main driver.
Fortunes is my second novel, and I think it's pretty good - much better than the first :_)
I received this book as a Goodreads Giveaway. It was a easy and quick read. The novel follows the Fortune family and how their successful company has affected their lives. When it is discovered that the patriarch of the Fortune is dying of cancer, the family reunites and drama ensues. The ending has a nice twist to it that will catch you off guard in a great way. An enjoyable easy read.
I immensely liked the book. I won it in a Goodreads giveaway and finally got around to reading it. It's an interesting, thrilling read with delightful writing.Would definitely recommend to a friend.
