Jerusalem, 1947. A tortured city, torn between Arab and Jew, seething with ancient antagonisms, awaiting only the withdrawal of British forces before bursting into all-out war.

If you loved the Leon Uris book "Exodus" or the movie based on it here's another look at the struggle to establish the State of Israel. Set during the British Mandate, the novel is focused on political and military actions-- negotiations, blockades, lack of protection by the British forces, need by the Jews to obtain guns. If you are pro-Israel you'll love this book which shows the injustices and indignities inflicted on the Jews by the British and that government's pro-Arab actions.

The essence of the story was so vivid and riveting that I was truly moved by the sacrifices made by those who went before us
