Bold Endeavors : Lessons from Polar and Space Exploration

Rate this book
Behavioral scientist Struster distills the experiences and responses of people who, alone or in small groups, have been isolated and confined in small places, and challenged by extreme conditions. In addition to polar and space explorers, he culls from diaries and other accounts of shipwreck and disaster survivors, prisoners of war, and experimental subjects; and he recommends principles and cautions for future expeditions. I loved this book! It took me a long time to read it but it was SO interesting on every page! I was worried his conclusions would be dated because it's not exactly a new book, but he's drawing lessons from things that happened 100 years ago for things that probably won't happen for another 100 years, so it all seems good to me.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in human behavior!
