I found this book enlightening and helpful. It gave so many naturopathic remedies and resources. I won't stop taking my meds, but I'll definitely add some of these practices to my daily routine ro help improve my overall wellness goals.
My dear friend and colleague Dr. Bongiorno shows how you can use diet and natural supplements to overcome depression and get balance back in your life. A straightforward approach to regaining happiness and living a better life.
I won this book in a goodreads giveaway. I have had issues with depression since I was a child. My friend recently had problems with depression and suicidal thoughts, I saw this book and thought this might be a good book for the two of us to read.
I have never read a book about healing depression, but I liked what this book had to offer. Just the title, hooked me.
The book does a great job in taking on the role of a map and stays away from the lecture format many self help books I read use.
I found the book easy to follow/read, and flows well. I recommend this book to anyone who has issues with depression.
This book is a quick, easy read for those that are depressed and wanting help. It has a lot of helpful information, but the author is a naturopathic doctor so many of the remedies may seem weird to many readers. I would recommend it to anyone with depression who is generally open minded.
The reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 is the references to evolutionary biology and psychology. I don't agree with the reliance on evolution to explain behavior. The whole point to evolution is that beings evolve and this includes our bodies and our minds.
Nothing new or impressive here. I was rather disappointed largely of telling the reader to eat better, exercise, and see a doctor. That doctor is likely going to just prescribe pills and the barrage of tests the author recommends you have will cost THOUSANDS without good insurance. Nevermind going to your doctor and attempting to convince him to run these tests based on a book you read.
This book not only had some info about depression but anxiety which is usually ranked pretty closely with it. As a psychology major I love reading stuff like this and I found this informative and an easy read that doesn't bore you with too many unneeded facts.
