As an adult, this is pretty terrible. Yet, my 6 year old niece and 4 year old nephew had a lot of fun with this. They actually had more fun with the picture on the dust cover seeing if they could match the animal to the superhero as there was a ton of them. It was a Halloween theme and they enjoy superhero stuff. Plus the 6 year old can read this and was pretty proud of that fact, most of it. So, it was worth suffering through this. I gave it 3 stars for the young set who will enjoy this if they like superhero stuff. Plus it's about animals.
This is a beginning chapter book that my kindergartener loved because he can at least attempt to read it all. And of course superheroes are often a good choice for keeping a kid's interest.
In this installment of the DC Superpets series, Ace the Bat-Hound is able to save Halloween when he discovers that villainous Croward and the crows have sprinkled fear dust in the area, keeping the children too frightened to venture out in search of candy. The story is short and features plenty of action although it's too short and predictable for my tastes. Still, it's nice for Batman to have a canine sidekick.
Just read this aloud to my two kids. A fun series with visual supports. It serves as a novelized format of the excellent Tiny Titans comic books for young readers.
