I was reading this collection and the whole time I was thinking along the lines of "It's good - not earth shatteringly so, but a pleasant read." And then I hit the third and final section of the book. The poem "Never Mind" just absolutely floored me. Goose bumps and all. And this final section continued on, impacting me much more than the earlier sections had.
But "Never Mind..." Oh, that poem. Seriously one of the best poems that I have read in the last ten years. I just reread it twice while writing this review.
I will absolutely seek out more of his writing and this one has earned a permanent place on my shelves.
I liked it. This is poetry that's not work to read...but yet is still rich in meaning. It is an exploration of humanity and relationships through earnest and sweeping scenes and stories full of detail. Judgment is left to the reader. Really, it's just enjoyable.
