"'Alone' does not include an uninvited live-in housekeeper!" --Dan Crenshaw, master love-avoider

After a shocking betrayal, Dan Crenshaw left behind his corporate empire to live alone--forever. Then his Texas seclusion was shattered by Shannon Doyle, his kid sister's friend. The vulnerable beauty infiltrated his lone existence with her home-cooked meals and wifelike concern. But Dan would never convert to family man. And though he dreamed of taking Shannon to the depths of passion and back again, his fierce honor wouldn't allow him to pluck her innocence...unless he slipped a ring on the lady's finger....

Annette Broadrick was born on November 26. Her mother read to her until she read to herself. From that time on, books became her closest companions and teachers. She was an only child until the middle of her 16th year when her sister was born.

She married immediately after high school graduation in the middle of her 18th year. Twelve months later she had her first son. She ended up having four sons in seven years. People with children do not need to explain what their life was like for the next 20 years. Those people without children do not want to hear about it. Early on, she became a secretary to supplement the family income. Eventually she became a legal secretary and for 25 years she worked for attorneys in Arizona, Texas, Illinois, and Oregon.

Her love of books followed her throughout her career as a mother and a secretary. By the time her youngest son graduated from high school she decided to write a book of her own. After writing in a spiral notebook for six months, she rented a typewriter and rewrote the book, showed it to a creative writing teacher, who was also a friend, listened to her critique and rewrote her story. Next she showed it to another avid romance reader and carefully listened to her critique. She rewrote her story once again. Next she mailed the manuscript to the Silhouette office in New York. Two months later she received a phone call asking if she'd be willing to do extensive revisions, including cutting one hundred pages. She said yes. This was in January 1984. By the time the book, Circumstantial Evidence, came out in November of that year, she had sold a total of six books.

Since October 1984 Annette has supported herself with her writing. Her career as a published author has also supported her reading habit and in the past five years she has managed to establish a quiet life in the Hill Country of central Texas that soothes as well as stimulates her. She hopes to continue writing the kind of books that readers enjoy.

This was one awesome book! This was the second part and by far the better of the two books. Dan the hot jock that Shannon feel for in high school, is in trouble and she is the woman to get him out of his rut. She goes to help him get his life back in order when he was down. She takes him home from the bar and then tries to take care of him until he is hit over the head and kidnapped! Omg this book was great. She was a sweet girl waiting for her mister right and he was the hurt hero who was looking for something to believe in. Wow just wow I loved it. It must be a one of and I will never find a story this good.

Quick easy romance read with more comedy than heat.
Dated. Hard to believe that people still thought this way 25 years ago before Facebook and free p**n but some still did.

D1261 Dec99 Crenshaws of Texas #2 and Man of the Month. Dan Crenshaw's business partner framed Dan for the stealing he had done. If it hadn't been for Dan's air tight alibi he would have gone to prison. Dan has checked out and gone to San Padres Island to get away from everyone. His sister Mandy has sent Shannon Doyle to find him and be his housekeeper/cook. Shannon had a crush on Dan when they were in high school, he didn't notice the girl who was 3yrs younger. He notices her now. They are kidnapped by Guardino who takes them out on his ship. They tell him they are engaged and know nothing about the men Guardino is looking for. Shannon and Dan are returned to San Padres Island where her brother show up and takes her home. Dan realizes he wants to marry her, will she? In 2 weeks? Enjoyed this, Shannon was a force to reckoned with.

4 Stars! ~ What a wonderful read. It was witty and fun, and the love story of Dan and Shannon was really special. I'll be looking for Ms. Broadrick's precursor to this, Lean, Mean and Lonesome; that tells the tale of Mandy and Rafe who are mentioned in this book.

If anyone has read Ms. Broadrick's Crenshaw of Texas series written four years later, perhaps you can let me know whether Dan is a relation. ... if so I might be tempted to seek out that series.
