Nothin is routine when you work at a splashy hotel/casino in Las Vegas. The lure of half-naked women and millions of dollars of cash every day creates a unique workplace. As Human Resources Director, Valerie Peterson assumes she's seen it all, until security finds a female employee murdered in her office.

When the police discover that the woman had been working under an assumed name, Valerie believes the answer to the murder must lie in her carefully concealed past. What she finds is a trail of blackmail that leads right back to her. Valerie is no blackmailer, but when her home is burglarized, and her life threatened, she must accept that someone things otherwise, possibly someon she works with every day, forcing her to reexamine the motives of everyone around her.

While her career spirals our of control, her love life is heating up. Still bruised from a disastrous first marriage, Valerie is torn between the safety and comfort she feels in one man's arms and the passion she feels for another.

To complicate the matter furter, the police arrest the one person Valerie is sure couldn't have comiitted the murder. Her job and her life in jeopardy, Valerie decides to dig into Monica's past hoping to find some clue to unmask the real killer.

Vicky grew up in Southern California before all the orange groves disappeared and you had to mortgage your soul to buy a piece of land. She’s lived all over the United States and spent two years in Taiwan and three years in England.
After all the moves, wanderlust is now a permanent part of her psyche. The thrill of exploring a new city, walking in the footsteps of an ancient civilization, or exploring a museum has her booking travel plans every few months.
Working as a Human Resources Director at hotel/casinos in Las Vegas, Reno, and a five-star resort in West Virginia gave her lots of anecdotes to include in her stories, carefully disguised to protect the not so innocent.
Her books include Double Down and Jealousy, two romantic murder mysteries set at a strip resort in Las Vegas, and The Crystal’s Curse, a science fiction novel where the action takes place on earth. It mixes alien domination with time travel and a little Mayan mythology.
